Eunjin had never felt so much anger towards a plastic item before this day.
She wanted to say nice going to the doll but it was, obviously, a doll and there were also people watching her.
"Eunjin, what's going on? Why'd you go quiet all of a sudden?"
"It's rude to keep people waiting, you know," the guy who had just shot someone said, walking towards her as he motioned to her phone.
The baby still cried loudly as Eunjin stepped back slowly, her stomach suddenly feeling empty as she watched the person in front of her slowly getting closer.
She gulped looking back at his two friends, their owns smiles plastered on their faces. She looked down at the man on his knees in front of them, his face bloodied with cuts and bruises everywhere.
Tears had begun to fall down his face as he awaited his fateful ending. He knew there wasn't any way he would make it out of the situation alive.
Seeing his in the position elicited something from within Eunjin, her head beginning to pulse slightly as the baby's cries echoed off of the buildings around them.
"Oh," the guy holding the gun suddenly said, stopping for a second. His smile returned to his face as he turned around, his finger pulling against the trigger as it shot the man in his head.
As his body fell to the ground, Eunjin took notice of his attire.
He was a regular shopkeeper.
Her eyes moved back to the guy with the gun who was once again staring at her. The glistening in his eyes creeped her out but they also reminded her of something.
"So how does this all work?" Eunjin asked, looking at the gun in her hand.
Her father sighed deeply, pinching the bridge of his nose in irritation before helping his seven-year-old fix her position holding the gun.
"Like this," he said groaned, making sure that she had a clear shot at her target.
Eunjin nodded, wiping away all of the hair that sat in front of her face to keep from finding any plausible ways of failing.
She didn't want to disappoint her father. It was probably already too late for that but she still wanted to prove she was worthy of his love.
It felt like no matter what she did or how she did it he would never be happy with the outcome. She couldn't even wake up in the morning without her father getting mad at her for some reason.
She didn't know if angry was the right word. Maybe upset was more like it. She didn't know. Her vocabulary wasn't expanded very well yet.
She tried to expand her vocabulary, tried learning things quickly. Whether that be things for the gang or regular school-related things. Anything that would for once impress the man she called father.
It probably wasn't healthy for her to think like that but she didn't care. She wanted the validation from her grown-ups. She already had pretty good validation from her mother but to her father, it was like all of her achievements were minuscule compared to her failures.
She just wanted his attention. For once in her life, she wanted to be the reason he was smiling or happy. She wanted to be the dream daughter.
But it was like he only got happy over killing people. So if that meant that she had to do that just for him to finally be proud of her, then she would.
And maybe by proving herself to her father, she'd be able to prove herself to everyone else that looked down on her for being too soft.
She would begin to use their mockery and hatred as fuel for her own success and achievements. They would be the ones begging at her knees instead.
She would no longer be seen as the pipsqueak. She would be seen as a leader. A ruler.
"Got it," she smiled, shooting at the target ahead.
The bullet traveled for less than a second before piecing the fabric right through the center.
The crying had stopped.
"Come on, Darling."
Eunjin's breath felt like it got knocked out of her as she finally came back to reality, the guy waving his gun around aimlessly as he stretched his hand out for her to grab.
"You're pretty, really. Come on now, we can have some fun together, no?"
One of the boys from behind him seemed to be growing impatient, crossing his arms as his knives stuck out on both sides. "This is taking too long!"
"Shut it," the boy who Eunjin now presumed as the leader said. His smile grew a bit larger and Eunjin could have sworn she could see the yellow stains from a mile away.
"The cops are gonna get here before we can get away if you don't stop playing with her like a cat and a ball of yarn. Let's go already."
The leader gritted his teeth, turning around towards the boy speaking. "Didn't I tell you to shut it, already?"
Eunjin wanted to try and get away while they were distracted but it seemed as though her luck had run out.
As soon as she turned to sprint away she could feel a sharp base sink into her thigh from behind.
She yelled in pain, dropping to the ground immediately as the blood began to soak through her pants.
Her leg was burning with agony and in the fall the baby carrier had smashed into her leg that wasn't stabbed.
As if one stab wound hadn't been enough, she felt another one being thrown at her- partially going into her arm.
"Now why would you go and do that?" The leader yelled, turning back to the one guy that had stayed quiet the entire time.
"She was about to run! I thought you wanted to keep her. I'm sorry, okay!"
The leader wiped his mouth angrily, "alive, you idiot!"
The three were caught off guard when a black car suddenly pulled up, three bodies immediately jumping out with urgency.
