Chapter 10

When you arrive at the company, Harrison parks in the company's private car park. You get out of the car and like in a movie you stop in front of the huge building and look it up and down, it is completely black even the windows are black so you can't see inside the building. It must have about 150 floors and even those have huge windows, which means that the rooms must be tied up as well.
"If you look at it any longer, we won't even get to work today" Tom says in his stupid yet elegant british accent as he rolls his eyes and walks with harrsion past you towards the building.
You scoff and follow them, when you have caught up with them you go straight to the 2 big doors at the entrance which open automatically as soon as you stand in front of them, even from the inside is everything very elegant. When you enter, you see a huge secretary's office at the front, probably the company's main secretary's office. Before you can take a look around the huge entrance hall, tom presses the elevator button to enter the first stop you need to take. You jump into his and harrison's elevator in the last second before the doors close behind you and the elevator music starts to play.
"Thanks for waiting!" You grip the bag in which you only have a few pens and a pair of glasses to look smart for your first day a little tighter with your hands.
"Ugh calm down baby girl" Tom says under his breath. You stare at him angrily at what he just called you
"Harrison, say something!" You look at him and wait for his support
"Tom , stop calling Y/N that and Y/N, stop crying around" You scoff and turn back to the elevator door, you are pretty sure that tom is giggling behind you right now, but you don't care !
The elevator doors open and before you can get out tom bumps into you from behind and walks past you, you follow close behind him and harrison so as not to get lost, you walk to a room that also looks somewhat like an office or another secretary.
"You two wait here, I'll go in and ask who Y/N should work for" Harrison says as he turns and walks into the office. You turn to tom only to see that he has already sat down in one of the chairs in front of the office and is scrolling through insta on his phone.
There are 5 chairs next to each other, tom is sitting in the second one from the left. Since you don't know if more people are coming who might want to sit down, you sit down in the chair directly to the right of tom and put one leg over the other to look as professional as possible.
Tom looks up from his phone as you sit down next to him but you don't want to get distracted or rattled, so you keep looking at the office door.
"You know, you don't have to sit right next to me, right?" Tom says as he looks up from his phone. You ignore him and continue to look at the door.
Tom sighs before he gets up and sits down 2 seats away from you again, as if you were a disease he had to stay away from. After a few awkward and silent minutes you ask
"Why don't you like me?" now with your gaze directed to tom
"What?" He looks confused up from his phone
"Everybody likes me, why don't you like me?"
"Maybe because you are annoying as fuck!" He says it as if it were self-explanatory but that was not a real reason for you, you wanted details, why exactly are you that annoying for him?
"Oh really? Tell me more"
He tilts his head a little to the side and looks over you at the ceiling, it seems like he's thinking about what he's going to say next. He leans his head on his fist and sucks on his teeth. He opens his mouth to say something but at that moment the glass door of the office opens and harrison comes out again.
You stand up directly and come towards him to know what is going to happen now.
"So?" You ask, Tom stands up behind you, puts his phone in his back pocket and looks at Harrison.
"Unfortunately you are not allowed to work with me because there is a risk that I could give you advantages."
The last words he says sarcastically because he thinks it's childish that they think that way, just because you're his sister doesn't mean you get any advantages.
"So mate, now Y/N will work for you, yet I want you to treat her with respect, just because she works for you, you won't treat her like something worse, understood?" Harrison says as he puts his hand on his shoulder and sternly tells him how to treat you.
"I'll treat her right, trust me" tom says, he looks at you and smirks, then looks back at harrison.
"Alright, I'll leave her to you now, since I have to go to work. Y/N I'll pick you up at 1 for lunch, Tom, you are welcome to come" He turns his gaze from you back to tom. You both nod, with not much emotion on your face, harrison walks past you and you turn to tom.
"So Tom-" You start but tom interrupts you after a second.
"Sir" He corrects and starts walking towards the elevator again.
"What?" You ask while you catch up with him
"We are at work now and I am your boss, so in future you will call me sir" You go into the elevator and he pushes the top button.
"Are you serious?"
"Of course darling, we don't want you to be treated special, do we?" He asks and looks at you with raised eyebrow.
"No..." You look sulkily at the display with the floor buttons, each time you reach a new floor the number of the floor flashes up.
The elevator doors open again, tom takes the first step out and makes his way to the end of the corridor, at the last door he stops and unlocks it.
You follow close behind him. When he opens his door you see a huge room, this room is also black but not too dark, the windows are the opposite of black, they look quite normal but he has a beautiful view over the city, his desk is quite central in the room and on the left side of the room he has a big black leather couch.
Even his curtains are black but not drawn closed. He sits down at the computer behind his desk and starts it.
You don't know where to go or where to sit, so you sit down in front of his desk on one of the two chairs.
"What should I do now sir?" You ask, you will have to get used to the word 'sir' in the future.
Tom has rejected his elbow on the table and his head on his fist, he looks up from his computer and your eyes meet, even if for a brief moment your heart stops beating, but you don't know why.
"I don't really have a job, so be a dear and get me a tea with milk, then I'll show you your office so you won't be near me" He holds out his work card to you, so you can pay his tea and so you take it harshly.
Your first day and you already don't feel like it, no... your first minutes and you already don't feel like it, and it's only 8:20 am, Great!!. You get up and make your way downstairs. You try not to get lost, but since the path from the lobby up to Tom's office is easy to find, you should be able to manage.
You go out onto the street, fortunately there is a coffee shop directly opposite where you go to get tom his stupid tea, but as long as you get paid for it, everything is fine.
He didn't tell you exactly what kind of tea, so you just order any and put the milk in as you leave. You walk back in past the first secretary's office where a woman of about 25 sits but doesn't even look up because she's doing some paperwork. You go into the elevator and press the top button of the third row with your right hand to get to Tom's floor.
When you arrive upstairs you go into his office without even knocking and flippantly put the tea down on the table.
Again he looks up as you suddenly stand in front of him with the tea now on the table and your arms crossed
"Here, the tea and your card" You give him his things and sit down again on one of the chairs.
"You know Y/N, if I treat you with respect, I expect you to treat your boss with respect too" Then he takes a sip of the tea, his facial expression does not change so you assume the tea is ok.
You say nothing about it, but just look at him annoyed.
"Well anyway, follow me I will show you your office" He stands up and goes to the door, before he puts the door handle down he turns his head back to you.
"Oh and before I forget, next time I want you to knock when you come into my office like everyone else, understood?" You pick up your work bag as you stand up and walk to him, you nod which he most likely only saw out of the corner of his eye but still he saw it. You walk down the corridor, he opens the door with a key and reveals a somewhat small office, but still a very nice one for a secretary. Your view is not quite as nice as his and you only have a simple little couch at the edge, yet more than you need. Your room is not as dark as his office and there are still plants on your table, even if they are only plastic plants.
Tom explains the simplest things you need to know, such as how to answer a call and transfer it to him, including which calls you transfer to him and which are not important enough. Then he leaves you alone in your own little office...
