Hi there. So sorry for the extra long wait, I had finals so I was studying and trying to learn all of the info. Alas, despite taking so long, this chapter is shorter than others. Don't worry though, with summer coming up I will have several long car rides to write chapters. Enjoy this long awaited chapter! <3

Peter's POV

Loki raised his head and looked around, just to be sure. I softly brushed his cheek. It hurt me to see such a snarky, arrogant, strong personality get destroyed in ten minutes.

"Are you alright?" I asked.

Loki shook his head and I heard his breath hitch. "My magic. I didn't have leftover reserves so I used magic I wasn't supposed to."

"Won't it just replenish?"

"Maybe. Or it might never come back."

I could tell that Loki was trying hard not to start crying again so I kissed him. He shuddered and leaned deeper into the kiss. I smiled and Loki pulled away.

"What?" He asked with a little bit of a pout.

I looked into his eyes, memorizing the fantastic green swirls. "I love you."

Loki leaned forward until our foreheads were touching. "I love you too."

We stayed like that, silently drinking in each other's presence, until Loki unhooked his legs from around my waist and slid off my lap. He stood with a small, mischievous smile and helped me off the floor.

He held my hand and picked through the loose rubble, making his way up the throne steps. We stopped in front of the cushioned golden throne.

My eyes widened and I began to laugh as I realized what Loki was wanting. "I can't wait to see the look on his face."

He smiled. "Me too."

I sat on the throne, thunderstruck at how soft and comfortable it was, not to mention how big. Loki sat next to me, occupying the rest of the space. It didn't take us long to begin cuddling. I gently took his hand in mine.

I rubbed my thumb over his knuckles like my Aunt May used to. The memory brought up a lump in my throat but I swallowed and shoved the feeling of sadness down. Now was not the time.

I didn't realize how much time had passed until I heard the creak of the doors. Their footsteps echoed through the empty room. I wrapped my arm around Loki's shoulder instinctively. He didn't say anything, but I could sense his nervous energy.

Both were in dressed for a fight. Thor was in his battle suit and he was gripping his hammer in one hand. His expression read worry and fear. Odin was dressed for combat with metal armor pieces covering his grand robes. His mouth was turned down in a snarl and he held his spear aloft. It took them a moment, but when they spotted us I could feel Odin's anger from halfway across the hall. I decided to act cocky so I put up a hand and gave a small wave. I could almost see the steam coming out of his ears.

"Let go of him."

I crossed my legs and tilted my head to the side. "Hmmm. How about no."

Odin gripped his staff tighter and continued to advance towards the throne. "That seat is for kings, rightful owners of Asgard. Not for posers and traitors."

I took my arm off of Loki's shoulders and stood. I started walking down the golden steps, advancing towards Odin. "In order to be worthy, you have to be able to wield the hammer, right?"

I glanced at Thor, who lingered a few paces behind Odin. He looked at me and shook his head with a meaningful look on his face. I knew it was a gamble, but maybe I could lift the hammer and prove my worthiness. It was worth a shot.

Odin stroked his beard. "What do you propose?"

I smiled, ignoring the beads of sweat running down the back of my neck. "If I can lift the hammer and prove that I'm worthy, you have to allow me and Loki to return to Earth."

Odin's eyes were calculating and cold. "If you can't, the punishments from the unfinished trial will become both of your fates."

My insides froze. Was I willing to sacrifice our freedom on a bet? I looked back at Loki. I breathing was even and his face was peaceful. I realized that if I won we could be free. We would be able to live our lives in peace. I looked back at Loki. He gave me a smile and nodded. Determination settled in my gut.

"One more thing,"I said. "If I win, you have to reduce Loki's life to a human equivalent."

Odin paused. "What?"

"I mean come on! From now until the time I die, Loki's hair will have grown a few inches at most. I want him to actually experience what it means to live, rather than be in constant fear of when I could die," I laughed.

Odin thought for a moment. "Fine. Thor?"

Thor swallowed thickly and placed his hammer onto the floor. I stepped forward and bent over the hammer. My heart was racing and my mind frantically began coming up with a plan B.

"Here it goes," I mumbled.

I placed my hands around the leather grip of the handle and pulled. For a heart-stopping moment the weapon didn't budge. Odin's face broke into a smile. I took a deep breath, planted my feet, and pulled with all my strength. The hammer almost launched out of my hands as it came off the ground. I stumbled and stared at awe at the silvery weapon in my hands.

Everyone's mouth was open in shock except Loki's. He jumped off the throne and bounded down the steps, three at a time. He tackled me in a hug, laughing.

"Peter!" He shouted. "That was incredible!"

He took my face in his hands and placed a kiss on my lips. I pushed him away, flushed and embarrassed. I placed a hand over my mouth.

"Dude, you just kissed me in front of your whole family," I mumbled through my fingers. "You suck."

Loki laughed. "Whatever you say."

I took a good look at the hammer in my hand. It felt almost weightless and I tossed it from one hand to the other. "Are you sure this is the real thing? It feels like foam."

"Here let me see," Loki offered, reaching for the weapon.

As soon as I let go the hammer dropped to the floor, bringing Loki with it. I bent over, my body racked with laughter as Loki groaned on the floor. I overheard a conversation from Odin and Thor.

"Are they really dating?"

"Yes, Father. Peter told me himself."

"Did you know he was worthy?"

"No. I just found out. I'm sure he didn't know either. He gambled for both of their freedoms."

I shook my head and helped Loki off the floor. I picked up the hammer with ease this time and tossed it to Thor with a quick, "Heads up!" It interrupted their conversation immediately.

"So Golden Boy," I said, leaning against Loki's shoulder. "Time to hold up our end of the bargain."

I watched with amusement as his face morphed into a scowl. "Fine," He growled.

Odin turned and marched towards the doors with an air of hostility. Loki and I cheered silently behind his back. We high-fived with both hands and interlocked them, like the gays we are. He pulled me in for a quick kiss and Thor walked past us with a hand shielding his eyes, trying not to look at us.

I laughed silently at him after we broke apart and we followed the two Asgardians out of the hall.
