Peter's P.O.V

Beep.

Beep.

Beep.

I groaned and rolled over, shutting off the alarm on my phone. I rubbed my bleary eyes and took in the time.

8:20 a.m.

"Fuck!" I shouted jumping up. I was late. Really late. School started twenty minutes ago. I rushed to my closet pulling out a pair of jeans and a black hoodie. I quickly slipped into them and ran over to my bag, which I had thankfully packed the previous night. I slung it over my shoulder and burst into the living room. I ran over to the door and yanked on my black converse.

I yelled a quick "Goodbye, May!" and ran out the door. I sprinted all the way to the subway and jumped in one, right as it was leaving. I sat down panting, completely winded from my run. I closed my eyes for a second, catching my breath. When I was done, I opened my eyes and pulled out my phone to text Ned, my best friend, and caught a glimpse of my face. I stopped in my tracks. My curly brown hair was a mess, sticking up in weird angles, my eyes looked empty, and I had deep purple bags under my eyes from lack of sleep. A bruise on my jaw, given to me by my tormenter, Flash Thompson, was only just beginning to heal. Usually it would have healed overnight, due to my super fast healing, but I hadn't been eating right the last couple days and it was taking it's toll on me.

My stomach growled as if to remind me of that fact and I placed a hand on my abdomen sighing. A ding echoed through the train reminding me that this was my stop. I stood up, all of my previous adrenaline gone, and my knees almost buckled. I gripped the back of my seat to keep from falling over and forced my exhausted body to move. I stumbled out of the train and the doors zipped close behind me. I started walking towards the direction of my school tripping every so often.

By the time I got to my school, first period was over. I slowly made my way through the packed hallway and eventually got to my locker. I put my things away and pushed the door close. Ned spotted me in the hall and called my name over the chaos. I walked up to him and he took a step back surprised.

"Dude what happened to you? You look terrible!" He exclaimed.

I shrugged, "Rough night I guess." He looked at me with concerned eyes but didn't press the matter further.

"Hey where's MJ?" I asked, looking around.

"She got sick yesterday." Ned said, "Oh! Also the principal wants to see you in his office. He called for you first hour but I told him you were running a bit late." I nodded.

"I'll see you at lunch!" I called over my shoulder already heading in the direction of the principal's office. Ned waved in response.

By the time I made it to his office, the bell signaling second hour had already rung. I tentatively knocked on the door and I heard a quiet, "Come in." I opened the door and slowly shut it behind me.

"Am I in trouble, sir?" I asked quietly looking at the floor.

He laughed and said, "Heavens no! Come sit down!" I hesitantly walked over and sat in the chair he had gestured to.
