Hopper managed to convince the judge to do another trial with the new information they got. It took them one week to take care of that. Jane couldn't participate to the trial, considered as physically and mentally unfit, which worried a lot her aunt. Cassandra didn't want to condemn all the teens. She wanted to condemn those who had the idea to accuse Jane of this, which meant Alban. But his parents managed to avoid jail for the boy who was declared guilty. Cassandra didn't lose everything, the parents of the teens had to pay her compensations every month for six months for Jane's health and some sidelines. Even if it was taking a huge thorn out of her side, she was furious that they didn't have the punishment they deserved. But now she was in direction of the jail to take her back home.
Inside the building, Robin was helping Jane to put her clothes on. The brunette's jaw was fine now, but she was refusing to talk. She could barely support to be touched too. She was still feeling the other girls' hands on her, touching her, and punching her. The pain inside her was so strong that she didn't feel any spark of joy when they told her that she was declared not guilty. She just wanted to die.
While Robin was taking care of Jane, a guard went to Jane's cell to gather her stuff. Mona sat in her bed and frowned when she saw her do that.
- "What are you doing?"
- "I'm gathering her stuff."
- "I see. But why?"
- "She is freed. The teens who accused her just tell the Police they were lying."
- "Oh..."
It was the first time Mona had been feeling guilty for someone. She wasn't hating Jane before she learnt of the reason of her imprisonment. But now...it was just awful. The guard managed to gather the tiny pieces of the Teddy bear in the box before going to the nursery. She gave the box to the brunette who was avoiding eyes contact.
- "Your aunt is waiting for you," the guard said.
Jane didn't react. Robin placed her hands on Jane's shoulders and gently guided her in the corridors, Constance walking next to her. Cassandra was outside the gate when she saw Jane approaching. The woman placed her hands on her mouth to cover her shock and struggled to hold her tears. Jane was limping, holding her box with her left arm as her right arm was still in a plaster cast. Constance stopped at the gate, letting Robin accompanying Jane to her aunt. The nurse gave the medical file to the aunt before coming back inside. Cassandra gazed at it before closing it, not ready to read that. She looked at her niece with sad eyes. The brunette was shaking and had shifty eyes.
- "Come on, let's go back home," Cassandra softly said.
The woman wanted to place her hand on Jane's shoulder, but the brunette didn't seem inclined to support physical contact. Jane began to limp to the car while Cassandra looked at the jail, noticing her other niece who shyly waved to her. The woman placed both her hands on her lips and sent multiple kisses to the blonde woman who struggled to hold her tears. Cassandra opened the car door to let Jane go inside and helped her to sit. But the brunette was still feeling pain in her butthole and vagina and struggled to find a good position to not be hurt too much. The woman put Jane's belt before putting hers and driving away. Cassandra didn't say a word. She wanted to cheer Jane up, but after what they made her live, nothing could make her feel better. On the ride, Cassandra noticed that a tear was always falling from her niece's eyes. Cassandra was furious. Even if they had a compensation, it would never repair all the damage they created.
After an hour of ride, the aunt and the niece finally arrived on the parking lot of their building. Cassandra took the box this time to release Jane of a weight. While they were walking in the corridor, they met Mary with Emily in her arms. Mary just needed to meet Cassandra's eyes to understand she wasn't okay. But Emily was very happy to see Jane, not understanding why she had been far for so long. The baby girl was waving at her with a wide smile, but Jane was still avoiding eyes contact. Emily stopped and noticed a tear on her cheek. She leaned from her mother's arms and gently wiped it with her sleeve. Jane had a small start and moved her eyes a bit everywhere, like if she was trying to be somewhere else. She knew who was touching her, and it was why she was trying to control her fear and her pain. She didn't want her to be scared of her. Mary forced Emily to lean back, seeing Jane panicking inside. The two women smiled to each other before continuing their ways.
Cassandra opened the door of the apartment and let Jane enter before locking it. The brunette didn't look at her apartment and went directly in front of her door. She waited there. Cassandra frowned before joining her. She looked at her and opened the door. The brunette didn't say anything and entered.
- "Um, Jane? You're home now. You can do what you want, okay? If you need something, you can come to me, okay? I give you some time to familiarize yourself again with the place," Cassandra softly said.
The woman let the door ajar and went to the kitchen to see what was inside the box. She loudly sighed when she recognized Mr. Bear in million pieces. She took all the pieces out of the box and saw the color pencils she sent to her. She would have smiled if they were not all broken and covered of a brown putty. She didn't need to see more to understand what it was. The smell was enough. She angrily closed the box and pushed it away before silently crying. She couldn't imagine everything Jane had gone through this month. If those teens hadn't confessed it was all a lie, she would probably be dead now...She tried to see the bright side by thinking about the psychological and medical follow-ups she would have thanks to the compensations, but she shouldn't have to need them.
She took a deep breathing to calm down and stood to check on Jane. When she opened the door, the room was empty. She began to panic, but the French door was still closed. She slowly entered and looked around before searching at the only place where Jane could be. She crouched and saw Jane laying down under her bed, facing the wall. Cassandra didn't have the energy to say something. She was feeling so much things that she preferred going out of the room to let go her tears again. She didn't know what to do. Jane would never be the same now.
