"Uggghhhhh" I throw the last dress in my wardrobe onto the floor. "Nothing! Nothing to wear!"

Typical 22 year old girl behaviour.

"Just wear the usual" says a voice from under my duvet. It's Chloe. My best (girl) friend.

I laugh a little "I don't know why I bother looking through the rest of my clothes to be honest..."

I grab a black skirt, black tights and Dans 'I killed Laura Palmer' t shirt from the mountain of clothes on the floor and quickly get changed in the bathroom.

Why is my hair so flat... I think to myself and I grab a can of hairspray and go maybe a little mad with it. When I have a suitable amount of volume to my dyed black hair, I exit the bathroom and head back to my bedroom.

"Taadaa!" I exclaim.

"Gorgeous, can we go now?" Chloe's been ready for hours and I know she's sick of waiting on me.

"Yep! Let's go!" I grab my handbag and my phone and head out the door.

We make our way to the tube station. Four minutes until the next one.

"So do you still love him?" Chloe nudges me in the side.

"Oh shut up"

The tube arrives and we hop on. It doesn't take long for us to arrive at the venue, Underworld, in Camden, it's just a few minutes walk once we're off the tube.

We walk to the doors and stop at the security guards. "Emily Thompson plus one, for the Bastille show?"

"Right. These are for you" the security guard mumbles at me as he throws two backstage wristbands in my direction.

"Thanks" I say sarcastically as we shove past him.

Once downstairs we grab a drink and walk right to the front of the stage.

There are a good few people here, but it's not a massive crowd. I text Dan to let him know we've arrived. *Just got here, right at the front, good luck chicken xx*

I glance around and see Sarah, Dans girlfriend, standing at the other side of the stage, talking to her snooty friends and looking at the other gig goers with a look of disgust on her face.

"Why did she come if she was going to stand there with such a sour face?" Chloe asked, firing a dirty look in Sarah's direction.

"God knows" I shrug and look away from her before she sees me.
Oh, no, wait... too late.

She struts over to us as if she owns the place and glares at me. "What are YOU doing here?" she sneers.

Chloe goes to say something, but I stop her. I don't want to fight, not on such an important night for Dan.

"I'm here to support my best friend, not to have an argument with you Sarah. Leave us alone."

"Your best friend?" she sniggers "Yeah right. He couldn't care less about you"

I know it's not true, but her words sting anyway.

Suddenly the lights dim and I thank God that I don't have to deal with her anymore.

Dan walks out onto the small stage, waving shyly at the crowd. His eyes find me quickly and I wave excitedly at him.
He grins right back at me as Will, Woody and Kyle follow him on to the stage.

Pride swells within me.

Without so much as an introduction they launch into their first song, Haunt. I've heard Dan sing this song so many times on his own, but it's the first time I've seen them all together playing it and my God is it amazing.

About an hour later I'm a mess. My hair is all over the place and it's so warm in this place.
Loads of people seem to have shown up out of absolutely nowhere and everyone's having a great time.

The band finish playing their song.
"There's someone here I want to thank really quickly" says Dan. He runs his hand through his hair and smiles down at me from the stage.
He holds out his hand as an invite for me to get on stage.

I climb up and stand slightly awkwardly beside him. I look down at the crowd and see Sarah, fake vomiting and laughing with her friends. I stare down at my feet.

"You guys, this is Emily. She's been my best friend since we were four. She's always encouraged me with my music, even when other people told me it'd take me nowhere. She's my rock"

I raise my eyes from my feet and look him in the eyes.

He grabs my hand and squeezes it tight.
"Thank you"

God damn butterflies!

The other three guys start singing.

"Eh eh oh eh oh, eh eh oh eh oh"

I take this as my cue to jump back off the stage and return to my place beside Chloe.

I sing along loudly with Pompeii and think how perfect Dan sounds. How amazing the bands sounds. And how much I love him...
