It's 8.45pm.
I'm standing on a chair, balancing on one leg, trying to hang a massive 'Welcome home' banner.
People started arriving about half an hour ago, just a few close friends. I've roped them all into helping me blow up balloons and throwing streamers around the place.
I also had to make sure the last of our stuff was unpacked from the move so that Dan was coming home to a fully decorated house instead of one with cardboard boxes piled up in every corner.
'You guys, it looks great in here!' I grin around at everyone and jump down off the chair. 'I'm gonna run and finish getting ready, they should be here in 10!'
I dash off into mine and Dans bedroom. Thankfully I did my make up a bit earlier because I knew there'd be a last minute rush.
After taking off my grubby jeans and t-shirt, I pull my black sequinned dress off its hanger behind the door and wriggle in to it. I slip my feet into black heels and take my hair out of its loose bun. It flows around my face and down past my shoulders in loose waves and I think what a great decision it was to style it like this, if I do say so myself.
I brush my teeth quickly and check my make up in the mirror on my vanity one more time before exiting our bedroom and heading back to the living room where everyone's waiting.
It's another 15 minutes before I hear a knock on the door and my heart instantly starts to pound in my chest.
I run as fast as I can in my heels to the door and almost rip it off its hinges as I open it.
There he is, just standing in front of me, with the most adorable lop sided grin on his face. I jump on him and lucky for me he catches me.
Oh my god his smell, I hadn't realised how much I'd missed this smell... and his face, god I've missed his face. I run my hand down his cheek and kiss him hard on the lips.
Everyone else starts to cheer and whoop and I feel my cheeks flush red, but any sense of embarassment disappears when he sets me down and looks me right in the eyes.
'Having a party without us?' he asks, smirking slightly.
'I've never missed anyone as much as I've missed you the last two weeks Daniel, never leave me again' I wrap my arms around his waist and bury my face in his chest.
'Uh, we're here too you know' says Kyle from behind me.
They must've walked right past us and said hi to everyone else while I was completely lost in Dans mere presence.
Woody and Will already have drinks and are mingling with everyone else, Kyle is standing there with his arms crossed and tapping his foot on the floor impatiently and Dan hasn't even had a chance to put his bag down yet.
I kiss him quickly again before I turn to Kyle and hug him. 'I missed you too, I promise' he laughs and squeezes me. 'Nice place!'
'Thanks!' I pull back from him and turn to Dan again. 'Do you like it?! I thought I should get all the unpacking done before you got back'
'It looks great' he grabs my hand and pulls me out of the living room and away from everyone else. 'I uh... have to leave my bag in the bedroom'
'Do you really have to?' I raise an eyebrow at him as he pulls me up the stairs behind him. I follow him into the bedroom and slam the door behind us. He throws his bag onto the floor and pins me against the wall.
'Dan...' He kisses my neck. 'We have guests you know'
'Do we?' he says between kisses 'I hadn't noticed'
I try, pathetically, to try and pull away from him, but lets face it, I don't really want to.
'I missed you too by the way' he says, pressing his nose against mine. 'Two weeks is too long to be gone without you' he runs his hand through my hair and I feel a shiver run through my whole body.
I close my eyes and kiss him softly 'Seriously Dan, we need to go downstairs'
'How about we go back down in an hour' he whispers into my ear.
I shiver again 'No because you know we won't go back down at all if we stay up here any longer'
I don't mean a thing I'm saying, all I want to do is get into that bed with him and never get back out of it again, but we really should get back to our guests.
'I have a surprise for you downstairs anyway' I say, as he lets me move away from the wall.
'What is it?' a look of curiosity creeps on to his face.
'I can't tell you, I have to show you' It's my turn to lead him around the house, so I take him by the hand and pull for him to follow me.
We get downstairs and I grab the rest of the guys. 'So, I have a present for Dan, but I guess its really for all of you sooo, follow me?'
They all look confused as we walk into the kitchen. I head for the door at the far end of the room and pull it open. 'Coming?' I ask as I start to make my way down the now newly carpeted stairs.
Kyle follows me first, followed by the rest of them. He gets half way down the stairs and stops in his tracks. 'Holy shit mate you have the best girlfriend on the planet'
'Kyle get down here so they can see too!'
I'm standing in the middle of the large basement. At one end is a recording room, complete with microphone, a drum kit, a keyboard and a bass guitar. At the other end of the room, the side we're on, there's a TV on the wall, an X box, a playstation, a whole rack of games, DVDs and CDs as well as two large fabric sofas and a few bean bag chairs.
Dans rooted to the spot with his mouth wide open. He doesn't say a word.
'Did you do this?!' gasps Woody.
'Yeah' I grin 'Thought it'd be a nice welcome home present for Dan'
'Do you like it?' I ask him nervously.
'Like it?!' he looks around for like the 10th time.
Will and Kyle have somehow already managed to get comfy on the sofas and switch the X box on.
'Emily th- this is... amazing' Dan stutters on his words and I can tell he's impressed.
'Well I kind of figured since you've been working so hard, you deserved something special, plus I got my office upstairs... now you have one down here!'
He picks me up and spins me round, making me giggle like a child 'Dan stooooop!'
I can tell this means a lot to him and that makes me feel super happy. All I ever want is to see this man smile and its even better when I know it's because of something I've done.
Everyone else gradually starts to join us from upstairs, the music goes on, the boys play a few songs and the drinks keep flowing.
I'm not sure what time we actually make it to bed, but we did eventually get to show each other how much we missed each other in private, and it was the best first night we could've possibly had in our new house.
