The Lieutenant [Jeon Jungkook x Reader][21+][COMPLETE]

Chapter Fourteen

As we walked back into the rifle range, Jungkook and I joined the group of soldiers that had gathered around someone that I assumed was an instructor. Dorms 14 to 19 were here so the room we were standing became very cramped, very quickly.

"Alright, I see that most of you are here so we can get started. Dorms 14 and 15 are on the third floor, dorms 16 and 17 are on the second floor and dorms 18 and 19 are down here with me. The stairs are on your right, those of you going upstairs may go." A man's voice boomed from the centre of the room. I had been pushed around a few times so I could no longer see the instructor. Jungkook grabbed my arm and led me towards a wall on the side of the room so we would be out of the way of the people that had started making their way towards the staircase. As the room emptied, the instructor came into view once again. He was tall, and had pitch black hair that was swept neatly to the side of his face. He seemed fairly muscular, but not overly so.

"Alright privates, my name is Park Hyungsik and I will be your instructor for the first part of your training at the rifle range. This floor is dedicated to semi-automatic weapons. Please get a pair of protective goggles and earplugs from the boxes against the wall." I was close to the boxes so I took a step towards them and grabbed earplugs and goggles for myself and Jungkook. I handed Jungkook his and he smiled in response.

"Before you put your earplugs in, we have some safety regulations to go through. All of the firearms are loaded, so please handle them with care. Do not point the gun directly at anyone. When you are not firing, make sure the safety clip is on before putting the firearm down or back on the wall," Hyungsik said from the front of the group, "You can use as many rounds as you would like. Today is aimed at familiarising yourself with a live weapon for those of you that are not comfortable holding a firearm yet. If you need any assistance, please do not hesitate to ask. I will be walking around and monitoring your progress. As usual, lieutenants will be coming in and out to monitor your training. You can grab your weapons and pick a lane partner."

I immediately grabbed Jungkook's arm, making sure everyone knew that he was my partner. We walked over to the wall where all of the weapons were hung up or placed on shelves. I scanned over the variety we had to choose from. There were AK-22s, AR-57s, M1 Garands and a few others that I didn't recognise. The AK-22 was my choice, I was familiar with it. Jungkook chose the same. We walked to the range and stood in a lane that was in the middle, I wanted to blend in with the crowd, even though my ponytail would always give me away. 

I put my earplugs in and picked up the rifle. It was heavy, but I would be able to control it. I turned off the safety and put the back of the gun against my shoulder so I could support it. I looked through the sight on top of the gun and brought the target into view. It wasn't far away so I knew I would be able to hit it without a problem. I looked over at Jungkook to make sure he had his earplugs in before I took my shot. He did, so I turned back towards the target and fired. I hit the target to the right of the chest, but it wasn't a bad first shot. I had been the first one in the room to take a shot but everyone had started firing shortly after I had. 

Jungkook took a shot and hit the target in the head. Rifles were obviously in his skillset, and snipers not so much. I heard shuffling coming from behind me. I turned to see a group of lieutenants walking around. I didn't look for Kim Namjoon, because I didn't want to know if he was here, I knew it would throw my focus. Goosebumps started to run wild on my skin as the lieutenants settled in behind us. I hated the new nervous tick that I had developed. I turned back to face my target and aimed for the chest target. I took a few shots in a row, most of them hitting the red spot that was on the chest. I was getting used to the AK-22 quickly, it was small and easy to handle, but heavy enough that it didn't move around. It was a good weapon of choice for the first day. I decided to go for the head next, I aimed for the red dot that was in the middle of the head and took a few shots, hitting it right in the centre. I smiled, I was proud of myself.
