"What are you doing now?" Jungkook asked as we left the dorm, making our way down the cracked cobblestone pathway as we had done what seemed like a hundred times by now.
"Back to the range, I guess," I said with a shrug, sticking my hands in my pockets.
"Staying with being a badass sniper then?" he chuckled. I laughed and nodded.
"I was fond of the way my father used to speak about the snipers in his platoon," I added with a smile, recalling the fond memories of my father and I sitting on the floor in front of the fire place as he told me all about what it was like in the military; his friends, teammates, annoying superiors, all of it. "I want someone to speak of me like that one day,"
"That's great, Liz. I'm happy for you,"
I took a quick glance at him to see he had a small smile on his lips, but his gaze was downcast towards the path we were walking on.
"What about you, Kookie? Where are you off to now?" I queried as I watched my feet walking beneath me as well.
"Bomb squad," Jungkook said confidently, almost making me fall over my own feet. I grabbed his arm and stopped us dead in our tracks.
"Bomb squad? Are you out of your mind? Do you have any idea how dangerous that is?" I was almost yelling at him, the words falling out of my mouth at a mile a minute, "I don't want to be scraping you off the pavement to send back to your parents in a bag!"
Jungkook stared at me, completely emotionless; but erupted into laughter a moment later.
"It's not funny!" I yelled as I slapped his arm, my brows still furrowed harshly.
"Oh, but it really is," Jungkook managed to say between his howling laughter, "You're so protective, and it's so cute!"
I huffed and started stomping down the path towards the sniper range. I heard Jungkook's heavy footsteps running towards me as he attempted to catch up.
"Aw, is baby mad at oppa?" he teased and wrapped his arms around me from behind. I didn't say anything, I only crossed my arms over my chest in defiance of his cute behaviour.
"Don't worry, I'm only going out of interest, I have no interest in joining the squad full time. I just want to see what it's like," Jungkook cooed into my ear just above a whisper.
"Good," I grumbled. He kissed my neck gently before releasing me, "I just don't want to see you dead. If anything goes wrong in that squad, there is no injury, there is death." I coupled my statement with an overly exaggerated pout to emphasise my point.
"And leave you alone? I would never," he winked and wrapped his arm around my shoulder as we continued on our way to training.
I waved goodbye to Jungkook as I walked into the range, he was heading for the field beside the track for bomb squad training. There were only a handful of people scattered around the sniper tent, much to my surprise. I imagined people would be eager to stay here, but apparently not.
"Seeing as so few of you decided to come back, why don't you sit among yourselves for a while to get to know each other. You will be spending a lot of time on this range together," Seokjin stated from a chair in the corner of the tent, eyeing all of us with an aura of nonchalance about him.
The other soldiers and I looked around at one another before taking a seat on the dusty floor in a circle; well a kind of circle.
"Miss Jung, why don't you kick things off?" Seokjin enquired with a smirk from across the tent and I could have killed him. I hated speaking about myself, purely because I never knew what to say. I took a deep breath and sighed before starting with something simple,
