"Alright, now that you've been kitted up, you will all be preparing your own targets for today. There is a pile of paper targets over here," Kim Seokjin motioned towards a cardboard box on the ground beside him, "You need to set up three targets each. As a warm up, you will need to sprint there, and back," Seokjin smirked at the last part of his sentence. I couldn't help but chuckle. He was messing with us, but I didn't care.

"Well, what are you waiting for? Go!" Seokjin yelled.

I had an advantage as my mat was one of the closest to the tent, so I was the first person to reach the box. I pulled out three sheets of paper and turned on my heel to head down the range. I sprinted towards my mat and hurdled over the sandbags at full pace. I barreled down the range as fast as humanly possible. My boots pounded against the sand beneath me as I ran.

I was the first one to reach the hay bales at the end of the range. I was heaving for air as I pinned up my targets, a five hundred metre sprint was a bit much for me.

I took a moment to breathe before running back. I stood and watched as the other soldiers made their way to their respective hay bales. Once half of the group made it to the end, I took off again.

I was leading the group by what seemed like miles. I couldn't run as fast as I did on the way there, but it was still fast enough to make it back first. I slowed as I approached the line of sandbags and leaped over it onto my mat on the other side.

I turned around to see that no one else was on their way back yet.

"Name?" Seokjin asked as he stood next to me. I jumped at the sound of his voice, having not been expecting it.

"Jung Elizabeth, sir" I said as I paid him a small bow as a sign of respect.

"You're light on your feet, Elizabeth. You will be a valuable asset to this team, I hope you stick around," Seokjin smiled, and walked away.

I couldn't help but smile as well. Earning a compliment like that from one of my superiors made me feel good.

The fact that I finished first, running a sprint like this, made me happy that Namjoon was here to see it, especially since he had said I wasn't physically strong enough to be here.

I looked to where the lieutenants were sitting, as a group of soldiers started running back down the range. Kim Namjoon was leaning back in his seat, arms crossed over his chest with his legs outstretched in front of him. I could see he was chuckling as he watched the rest of the soldiers return to their mats, some falling behind and gasping for air.

"I'm glad you aren't in the tactical team!" Seokjin laughed as the last few soldiers hobbled to the end of the range and stepped over the sandbags. "The first hour will be giving you an opportunity to familiarise yourself with the weapons beside you. You can shoot as many bullets as you want. You can just sit there for all I care, but I would recommend against that. This is the best opportunity you will get to see if you are comfortable wielding a weapon as powerful as this. So, get comfy and enjoy."

"Yes, sir!" the group of soldiers said in unison. I watched as Seokjin picked up and loaded a sniper of his own and made his way to a mat and settled on it. It was always a welcome sight seeing an instructor training with his recruits. More often than not, instructors delegated a task and sat on a comfortable chair in the shade, watching us work our asses off in the blazing heat.

Seokjin fired a few rounds, which prompted a few other soldiers to start as well. I glanced down the range at Seokjin's target to see he had hit the target in the middle of the chest.

I lay on my mat and joined in on the fun. I fired a few rounds to find a comfortable way to hold the gun beneath me so it wouldn't recoil into my ribcage as it had before.
