As I reached the first obstacle, I leaped over the logs one by one, trying to stay light on my feet so I wouldn't stumble. As I leaped over the last log, someone ran past me. I was upset that I wasn't in the lead anymore, but I was glad there was only one person in front of me from our dorm. It would make me stand out from the rest of the crowd, which is exactly what I wanted, yet dreaded. If everyone could see me, that meant Namjoon could see me as well. The nerves coursed through my veins at the thought, but I quickly shoved them within the depth of my mind and forced them into hiding so I could focus on what I needed to do. Impress everyone.

I hopped up onto the platform where the rope swing was hanging, I ran and jumped, grabbing onto the rope, swinging to the other side where I hopped down onto the other platform. It was easier than I had originally anticipated it to be. When Minho said the gap was 5 meters wide, I never thought I would be able to swing across, but if you got a running start, it was easy. I ran to the next rope, swung, and landed safely on the platform on the other safe. I steadied myself and started running for the next one, I was ecstatic with my progress so far. I leaped and grabbed onto the rope.

As my hands wrapped around the rope, securing my grip, the worst thing that could possibly happen, happened. The rope snapped as it took all of my weight, sending me plummeting into the pool of water below. I scrambled to bring myself to the surface. I took a deep breath and coughed out the water that had managed its way into my lungs, I was completely startled by what had happened. I glanced around to see that the soldiers were now filing into the four other lanes and were overtaking me one by one.

"Private, in the water, are you okay?" Minho yelled from the tower. I sent him a thumbs up as I made my way to the edge of the water and pulled myself up and out of it. The water wasn't exactly clean, so I now had a brown tinge to myself and my clothes. My hair had also matted to my skin and my socks felt like mud in my boots.

"Keep going private, no need to start over," Minho yelled when I had started making my way to the start of the rope swings. I sighed with relief and made my way towards the next obstacle, picking up my pace so I could try to regain my position in the group. I ran towards the jump wall, where a few of the soldiers were struggling, one of which was Jungkook. As he ran and jumped, his chest came in contact with the wall, causing him to groan in pain. I ran straight to him, without hesitation.

"Kook, hey, look at me, you need to stop," I said as I cupped his face in my hands.

"No, I need to do this Liz, I can do this," he said as he shook his face free from my hands, the frustration he was experiencing evident in his tone. The fact that I was soaked seemed to be lost on him, which only emphasized his emotional state. I could tell he was in complete turmoil and had no idea what was the right thing to do anymore. He knew he needed rest, but he also knew he needed to be training for platoon selections or he would be sent home.

"At least let me help you then,"
"We're not supposed to help each other,"
"Yeah well, not everyone may have a cracked rib, do they?" I said sternly, trying to convince him to let me help him. I went down on one knee so he could step on my knee to hoist himself over, once he made it over. I stood up and jogged away from the wall, to try and get a running start. I turned around and started running towards the wall. As I approached it, I placed my foot on it to try and hoist myself over, but the water dripping off of my clothes, made my boots wet as well, causing me to lose my grip on the wall.

I started to slip off the wall as I scrambled to try and grab the top of the wall and prevent myself from falling but I couldn't grab it in time. I fell and landed flat on my back, sending the wind out of my lungs. I lay there for a moment, coughing uncontrollably, trying to catch heave for air and catch my breath. I slowly made my way to my feet and realised I was now the last soldier on the course. I now stood out from the crowd for all the wrong reasons.
