The dining hall was still fairly empty, so we were able to sit at our usual table. As we sat down, Jackson wandered through the door and scanned the faces of the people in the room furiously. When his eyes met mine, I smiled and motioned for him to sit with us. I could see he was hesitant, so I smiled wider and nodded, hoping he would understand that it was okay.
After he had collected his food, he strolled over to our table slowly, eyeing both Jungkook and I to see if there was any evidence of hostility.
"Good evening," he said gently as he placed his tray on the table, leaving a seat between me and him.
"Jackson," Jungkook nodded.
"How was your day?" I questioned as he made himself comfortable in his seat.
"Busy, but that's nothing new. Having the detective here this morning delayed my paperwork so I'll have to work late tonight," he grumbled.
"I'm sorry. I know you didn't sign up for dealing with me, or Jungho," I said in an attempt to comfort him.
He chuckled softly and smiled at me, "It's not your fault Liz, Jungho has always been an asshole, I never liked him; so I will happily fill in any paperwork that makes sure his ass ends up rotting in a jail cell,"
Jungkook and I both chuckled at his statement, not having expected his outright hatred for Jungho and his passion to send him to jail.
"At least I know I'm not the only one," Jungkook said with a smile.
I smiled at the two men making peace with one another. I was fond of them both, so had they not got along, I would have had to choose between them. It wouldn't have been a difficult decision, but I would prefer to have both of them in my life.
We sat together long after dinner had finished, talking and making jokes among ourselves. For the first time since I had set foot in the camp, I felt calm.
"So, sergeant Wang, what are we doing tomorrow?" I asked once my laughter had died down from Jungkook's joke.
"Specialisation training. It's probably one of the most important training days," Jackson said with a serious tone, "You can go around the camp and try out the different specialisations that are offered."
I had a feeling, because I was on the sniper roster, I would have my specialization picked for me already. I didn't mind, but I would have liked to try out a few others. I always had a keen interest in communications. It would be exhilarating to be able to negotiate with someone who is holding hostages, or to talk my way out of a dangerous situation.
"So, what is offered?" Jungkook asked as he leaned onto the table in front of him.
"Sniper training, communications, bomb squad, tactical and medical," Jackson stated simply.
"I'm assuming I have no choice in what I do?" I asked with a groan.
"You do, but you have to spend the morning with Seokjin at the range. After lunch you will have the opportunity to explore other specialisations." Jackson said with a smile, knowing it was what I wanted to hear.
"Oh, thank goodness," I sighed in relief causing both men to laugh.
"Sorry to kill the mood, but would you still like to use my room for tonight?" Jackson asked gingerly.
I sat for a moment and contemplated his offer. I felt safer now that I had spoken to the detective and had confirmed the fact that Jungho was locked up, but there was no harm in being safe. Rather safe, than sorry.
"I would like to, if you don't mind, Jackson," I smiled.
"Of course not, I really don't mind at all. Mr Jeon here is also welcome to stay with you," Jackson smiled at Jungkook, prompting a nod from the younger male.
