"Here are some fresh towels," Jackson said as he placed the pile of fluffy, white towels he was holding onto the chair next to the bed.

"Thank you Jackson," I said as I sat down on the edge of the queen sized bed. It felt strange sleeping in someone else's bed; and knowing that they would be sleeping in mine.

"Are you sure you're okay with sleeping in my bed? With all of the other soldiers?" I asked, feeling guilty for being the cause of his potential discomfort. The beds we had been given were awfully uncomfortable and he wasn't guaranteed a good night's sleep because of it. He was selfless for allowing me to take his comfortable bed, knowing that the one he was getting in exchange was inadequate for any human being.

"I'll be fine Liz, it's only for a few nights until platoons are selected," he said as he sent me a reassuring smile. He opened the door and turned to leave.

"What about my chores?" I interjected before he walked out, "I'm supposed to clean the trays, and I didn't clean them last night either..." I blurted out, realising I hadn't paid my chores a thought since the first night.

"Don't worry about that, I've allocated another soldier to do it after what happened last night. It's not safe for you to be wandering around the dorm at night. I've allocated someone to Jungkook's as well, so you can stay together. I know you need him now more than ever," Jackson reassured me as he took a step out of the door.

"Jackson," I said, stopping him in his tracks again, "Can I ask you one more thing?"

"Of course,"

"Can Jungkook sleep in here too? I would feel safer knowing he was so close, I'm sure he wouldn't mind sleeping on the floor..." I trailed off, feeling slightly embarrassed of my request. I know Jackson was aware of my friendship with Jungkook, but I was also sure that he knew that wasn't all there was between us; he isn't stupid. I hoped the request wasn't pushing it too far, I know he was understanding but I was pushing my luck with him.

"Of course Liz, I'll tell him," Jackson said with a half-hearted smile, seemingly hesitant to agree.

"Thank you again, Jackson, for everything you've done for me tonight," I said as tears threatened to spill over again. He bowed in response, and left, closing the door behind him.

I was grateful he had left then, if he had stayed a moment longer I would have started crying again. I was lucky to have him as my sergeant, and I would forever be thankful for him and everything he had done for since I had arrived at the camp. I had been nothing but trouble and, quite frankly, a burden to him but he never hesitated to look after me and help as much as he could.

I kicked off my boots and lay back on the bed. The pillows and sheets smelled of Jackson. I turned onto my side, facing the door, to try and engross myself in the welcoming scent of him. I had grown fond of Jackson. He was an exceptionally attractive man, who seemed to have a genuine heart. The smell of him merely made me comfortable. He was someone I had gotten to know during my time here, and I felt as though he seriously cared for me. I knew I could trust him no matter what.

I was shaken from my thoughts by a knock at the door.

"Who is it?" I asked as I stood up and approached the door slowly, not trusting who would be on the other side.

"It's me," Jungkook responded from the other side of the wooden door. I opened it and saw that he was carrying his pillow, blanket and some clothing. He was wearing his sweats, so he had obviously showered already. "Here, I brought you your sweats and toiletry bag as well," he said, handing me the clothes he was carrying and unraveling my toiletry bag from inside his blanket.
