Chapter Twenty-Three

Minho had sent Jungkook to the doctor that is based at the camp. I was happy Jungkook had decided to go and see the doctor; he could get some decent painkillers and get his rib seen by someone that knows what they're doing. I was almost certain that the doctor would book Jungkook off for the rest of the day, if not tomorrow as well.

I was lonely without Jungkook, but I had made some small talk with Jaejoon in-between our rounds. We had to do the agility course five times, but after the third round, some of the soldiers did not finish out of exhaustion. I had taken it easy after the first round, I didn't want to over exert myself, so I stuck to the middle of the group so I was able to finish all five rounds. By the end of the last round, only fourteen of us had finished, the rest were scattered around the course, heaving for air. Most of them were the egotistical, competitive soldiers that had fought for first place in the first few rounds, which caused them to burn out quickly.

"Good job today everyone, you've done well for your first day of training. You have an hour break now, then meet me at the track for some fitness tests. You're dismissed," Minho said to the group of soldiers that had gathered around him.

I sighed with relief, my body was aching and I wanted to check on Jungkook to see how he was doing. I strolled along the cobblestone pathway with Jaejoon and a few of his friends, making a few jokes on our way back to the dorm. A few of the soldiers had wandered off the path towards the recreation centre and some had stayed behind at the course to lie on the grass in the sun.

"So where's your boyfriend, Liz?" Jaejoon asked with a smirk over his shoulder. I was walking behind him with a few of his friends, making light conversation, talking about nothing in particular.

"Who? Jungkook?" I asked, knowing that's exactly who he was talking about.

"Yeah, you guys are a thing, right?"

"No, we're not, he's just a friend," I chuckled, not wanting to add any gossip to what was already floating around in the dorm.

Jaejoon immediately burst out laughing at my response, "Friends? Yeah right. I see how that boy has been looking at you. He is like a love sick puppy!"

"Don't be ridiculous Jaejoon!" I pushed his shoulder with my fist, "He is just a friend, nothing more, nothing less."

"Alright! Whatever you say Liz! I'll catch you later, yeah?" Jaejoon said as he walked off towards one of the other dorms.

"See you later!" I yelled after him and his group of friends as they ambled down the pathway, but his words stuck with me as I watched him walk away. If he really thought Jungkook and I were an item, things would need to change. Jungkook's assertion of dominance at the agility course had annoyed me. The fact that he assumed that he 'had' me and Namjoon never would, got under my skin. I knew it would never happen with Namjoon, but Jungkook had no right to assume that based on our relationship. I furrowed my eyebrows while I thought about how I would handle the situation. It would be difficult to convey my feelings and concerns without Jungkook thinking I had feelings for Namjoon in the process.

I walked into the dorm and ran up the stairs, taking them two at a time. I was practically jogging down the corridor to our room. I gently pushed open the door, not wanting to wake Jungkook if he was asleep. I peeped my head around the door to see him lying on his bed, facing away from the door. 

I tiptoed towards him and stopped at the foot of his bed to see that his eyes were closed and his breathing was heavy, making obvious that he was asleep. I watched him for a moment, his face was soft and peaceful, with a slight puff to it. I saw that there were a few medicine bottles on the floor next to his bed. I walked over and knelt beside the bed to pick them up and see what they were. One was an anti-inflammatory, one was a painkiller and the last was an antibiotic. I wondered what the antibiotic was for, I didn't think Jungkook's cuts were big, nor deep, enough for him to get an infection.
