One thing she'd always been good at?
Concealing her emotions.
She'd been stone cold and classy all her life, exactly as a queen 'should' be.
She was strong-headed, independent- her only aspiration in life to be the best leader there could ever be without the help of anyone else.
She didn't talk about her emotions, nevermind show them to anyone, she would never be that vulnerable.
But that girl standing there at five am in the morning, watching the sun rise obove the horizon in the middle of a circle of people, was a completely different person.
She'd grown, she'd matured, she'd fallen in love, she'd been vulnerable, and over everything, she'd become a mother.
Not exactly where she thought she'd be at that point at time, but absolutely grateful she was.
That morning was hard and painful to wake up to. It was scary. Her anxiety had been the one to basically wake her up.
As she looked around at the faces in that circle, she wasn't even sure how many of them would survive, she wasn't sure if she'd be alive after that day.
And with that knowledge in mind breakfast had been awfully quiet, though Ross's hand had never left hers, and his occasional sweet smile would make her feel comforted for a few seconds.
Still, what had to be done had to be done, and now, after a successful night of staying out of Snake's sight, they would fight.
The plan they discussed over and over was pretty simple, yet they hoped effective.
"Okay, we don't have much time. It's better we start now" Aden spoke up.
"Did everyone understand their duty? Do I not have to repeat myself?" Ross questioned.
"No sir!" they all spoke up in union.
"Good, good" he nodded "Now, we fight for what's ours!"
They all cheered at their kings words.
"Wait!" Laura called out over the crowd, making them immediately turn their attention to their queen "Before we go through with the plan I just want you to know that whatever the outcome, thank you. Thank you for your service. Some of you have worked for us for quite a long time and I've made some pretty close connections. It would hurt me to see any of you hurt. Please do be careful, and we shall protect this country with grace. You have all my life and positive energy. May we find success" she pressed two fingers to her lips before she spread her hand out, blowing a kiss.
The group cheered for her immediately.
"We will not disappoint you queen" Fegas spoke up, going a step forward of the crowd.
"We shall find triumph in this war" Freddie spoke up, smiling as he looked at Fegas.
Laura gave them a sweet smile, before she felt an arm wrap around her shoulders.
She looked up to see her husband, and he placed a kiss on her head "We'll get our home back"
Wordless, she turned to him instead, touching his chin as she directed it down, only to place a kiss on his lips.
"You're my home" she whispered vaguely after they pulled away "You and my Sofi Alexandra"
"And you are mine"
