"I'm not doing it" he bluntly claimed, putting the letter that was sent to him down "I'm not acting like I'm courting her when I'm not"
"You don't have to act. All you have to do is not say no" Aden rolled her eyes at her overdramatic son "Elenor asked respectfully. Please savor their secret"
"The secret being that Laura's not taken?" Ross gave her a dumb look.
"Yes!" her mother hissed at him "Jesus Ross why do you make things so complicated! I thought you had a good time with her in that balcony. I saw your smile right after"
"We threw some comments back and forth mother, I don't know if that qualifies as fun" Ross sipped on his morning tea.
"I do know you well enough to know that that is exactly what you enjoy young man" Aden gave him a daring look, and Ross didn't look up from his tea "I'm sorry that this is the situation but it's just temporary. Elenor's making sure to organize every date possible for her granddaughter to find real love"
"Oh great well that will work. You've been setting me up on dates since I was nineteen mother. How did that work out for you? I'm sure none of them will be up to her standards" Ross murmured the last words.
"And how do you know that?" Aden raised an eyebrow.
Ross sighted at that, and looked up at his mom "Look, I've spoken to her just a few times but I already know that she's not impressed easily. She doesn't even want to do this, she's just doing it for Charlotte. That woman does not need nor want a man"
"Damn I see you guys have been getting pretty deep with those discussions of yours" Aden's eyebrows raised "I don't know who she reminds me of" she then gave Ross a look.
"Trust me. Me and Miss Marano can't be more different" Ross cleared his throat.
"Why at least you're speaking of her normally now instead of full of hatred" Aden shrugged "That's progress"
"She's not... as bad as I thought alright? Let's leave it at that" Ross pressed his lips, looking away from his mother.
"Great. So I'll write a letter back to the suns that you shall comply to their request" Aden then got up from her chair, not leaving Ross even a slight second to argue as she headed for the door.
"I had to walk up to her" he groans to himself, resting his head on his chair with a painful look on his face.
God damn it sweet champagne.

"Your majesty! I'm sorry to interrupt your path like this but Madame Elenor's looking for your presence. She said she's in the main hall" one of her guards stopped her in her tracks as he notified her of the current events, and Laura only nodded as she speeded right off.
When she did arrive in the main hall she found her grandma there just randomly picking at the grapes that were put on a plate in the table alongside many other fruits.
"You asked to see me?" Laura breathed out and her grandma whisked around to see her granddaughter looking breathless and her hair looking like a mess.
"My love what happened? Why in such rush?" her eyebrows furrowed.
"A lot of things have happened this morning" she took a deep breath as she sat down for the first time in what felt like forever.
"Really?" her grandma raised an eyebrow.
"You know Duke Edmund you set me up with?" she asked her grandma and Elenor nodded for her to proceed "Maisy showed up at one point and he apparently does not have a nice appreciation for children"
