"Oh this dinner is amazing. So many amazing foods" Elenor spoke, looking at the giant table in front of them.
They were only four people but the table had enough room for at least ten, and there were several amazing dishes filling all the space on it.
Laura was confused as to what half of it was, considering the food was pretty different from what they had, but since it tasted good, she didn't want to ask and find out the ingredients.
Sometimes ignorance was bliss.
Both her and Ross stood at opposite heads of the table, as Elenor and Aden faced each other somewhere in the middle.
"I'm glad you like it. It was made with pleasure by our best cooks" Aden responded, and Elenor nodded.
"Let's get to the point" Laura spoke up suddenly, and everyone turned their heads to her "I'm curious to know more about what's been happening to Madelvia. You said there was problems" she then stared at Ross, and the intensity of her stare made it hard to look at her in the eyes.
"Yes" Ross nodded, "It all started when we found patches of our land were burned with no sign of fire, then the lake looked poisoned and the fish were dead, there's villagers complaining that their crops and things ate being stolen with no trace, and I saw a shadow in the woods not too long ago"
"You saw a shadow?" her eyebrows narrowed "I did too. It was in my room"
"I heard" he nodded "I'm sorry you had to experience that"
"Yeah, um, I feel the same about you" she nodded, then cleared her throat under his stare "Well, we've also had the same problems that you mentioned and we could probably make a list. We've started thinking it's black magic"
"Black magic" Ross murmured, considering her words "I can see that. I just wish we knew the source"
"We'll know soon" Laura shook her head "They will show their face, and I want us to be prepared for them when they do"
"I'd wish nothing but that too" Ross nodded "We could...make a pact, get our ministers involved and help each other out when it happens"
"That'd be lovely" Laura's smile finally showed, making him smile as well.
Aden nodded "Probably for the best"
"Well, off topic, but I have to say your kingdom is gorgeous. It's a pleasure to be here after so many years" Elenor complimented again, making Aden laugh a little "Thank you. It's lovely to have you here. Our history had been keeping us silent, but now we can finally join hands and help each other"
Elenor nods "That's very important. This could be a great force. We have no idea what we're up against"
Just as she finished her words, as Laura reached out to grab a piece of bread, she looked up to see Ross heading for the same one.
The tips of their fingers tips touched right on top of it, and they stared at each other, almost like they were frozen in time.
It was so easy to get lost into her eyes. Big warm brown eyes that just invited you in for a dip.
And Laura couldn't help but notice how freshly handsome he was, no matter how much she tried to ignore those inappropriate thoughts out of her head.
"Apologies queen. Have it" Ross murmured, and then nodded at her.
She bit her lip, picking up the bread with her fingertips, and watching him take another, and then give her a smile.
She didn't say anything. Just smiled back.
