"So, the shadows are hers" Laura murmured as she flipped through another page of the book in front of her, and Ross nodded.
"I thought so too. I believe our nightmares were also tied to her" he spoke up.
"I can't believe this" she sighed "She's the cause of all of this misfortune"
"She calls herself Snake" he informed "Her and her brother are believed to be the last dark witches left, but he falls more under her shadow. His name's Shatter"
"So there's two" she sighted "Alright if there's not a lot of them this can't be too hard... right?"
"I wish I could say yes but you know how dangerous they could be. Dark powers are very strong powers, and we don't know most things about them. Plus she's got people on her side working for her and she calls them her snakers. They all live in a run-down castle somewhere in the woods. Our guards are scouting to find their location as we speak"
"Woah they've found out so much information" Laura's eyes widen.
"I sent them to talk to the villagers. They've reported that she's been seen a few times in town purchasing food and equipment and she's always wearing a dark cloak" he explained.
"Why dosen't she sent her... snakers or whatever they're called to do that?" Laura raises an eyebrow.
"She has. These reports are dated years ago and she hasn't been seen out recently. She's usually always in the woods. We don't know what she does there" he cleared his throat.
"She's probably hiding there" Laura sighted "I mean if everyone was out to kill me I'd hide away too"
"She wants to kill us. You're not seriously empathizing with her" Ross gave her an 'are you crazy' look.
"I know" Laura groaned "It's just sad that she was born into it you know? She's probably been carved for this all her life. She's never known happiness"
"Exactly, which is why she's more dangerous and we shouldn't take this lightly. You offered her a good life and she immediately took down your offer remember?" Ross raised his eyebrows.
"I guess you're right" Laura murmured to herself, closing her book and laying her head on top of it.
After a while of silence she moved her head to look at him, only to find him thoughtfully staring at her.
"Anything wrong?" Laura raised an eyebrow and Ross shook his head, sighting a bit "I guess... I was just thinking about how unnecessarily kind you are"
Her eyebrows raised then, and she lifted her head off the table "I can't tell if I should thank you or not"
Ross chuckled and shook his head "Being kind is a good thing, but being kind to a bad person isn't. You become their tool"
"I just try to look at the light in people. I'm a sun" Laura shrugged a little, and he smiled at her.
"I know that" he murmured, moving one of the hairs that had fallen on her face behind her ear, and she flushed a little at the promixy.
Right then and there they were only thinking about one thing, and as they stared at each other they both knew it too.
"So, I guess we should talk about it" he raised his eyebrows slightly as he smiled, pulling away from her.
"About?" she pressed her lips, acting like she had no clue what he was talking about.
"The kiss that sealed our marriage. You know, before someone threatened to kill us" he suggested, chuckling at her avoidance of the topic.
