xXx

"Hey beautiful" Laura almost whispered, as she noticed one of the fairies standing on top of a flower that morning.

She was in her garden, as usual, soaking up the sun, and she'd just gotten a very small visitor.

The fairy was small and fragile, wearing some type of golden leaves made of flowers to cover herself, with pointed ears and shinning bright as a golden coin as the rays of the sun hit her. Her golden wings open beautifully displaying the several colors and designs that filled them.

It was blinding to look at, but if you looked closer these beings were the most bea0utiful things. Laura had always been fascinated by their work.

They were usually very shy creatures, so they'd stay away from humans, witches, or any type of larger form of life, and for safety reasons too, however it was not uncommon to encounter one.

Luckly enough, Laura did that day, and the fairy didn't seem to be shy around her as it flied around, spreading her dust everywhere she went.

She then ended up sitting on Laura's hand, and Laura brung her hand closer to her face to look at her better.

"You seem tired" she whispered at the creature as she saw it lay down in her hand, seeming to trust Laura.

That was one thing about them too. They knew who would hurt and who wouldn't hurt them, who to trust and who to not trust.

Laura was quite jealous of that particular trait, as I'd make her own life so much easier if she knew those types of things.

The fairy was still shining, but her form didn't seem well. They were usually pretty energetic, and this one seemed to move around very slowly. They also didn't make any types of noise, often getting mixed up with actual butterflies.

As if understating what Laura had said the fairy was looking at her, and Laura sighted "I know, darkness seem to be in every direction I look these days, but we'll fix it"

"Laura!" her voice was suddenly called out loud, and startled she jumped up as the fairy immediately flew away from her.

She turned around to see her precious grandmother standing in front of her with a frustrated look on her face.

"Yes nan?" she asked as she shook off the grass from her light dress for the afternoon.

"I tried everything" she shook her head "But the ministers are set in their ways. They say our country is small and could not afford any life loss and requesting for there to be a ball in which you'll find a king to rule by your side, someone with power in their hands to help us in these times of need. However they will need your approval for anything to happen"

Laura sighted, looking down.

Elenor stared at her granddaughter, and pressed her lips with sorrow in her eyes "You don't look well my dear. How are you doing? What is it that is on your mind?"

"I'm just..." Laura bit her lip, shaking her head "Scared, for myself, for you, for everyone"

"It is a scary time" her grandma nodded "But you have to remember to be strong and stay focused. I know you have the power to do so. You're my brave little girl"
