Pretty dresses, expensive wigs, fluffy feathers and fans, small dogs, classical music,  banquettes filled with colorful treats, chatter, so much chatter everywhere around her.

She was in a small pretty dress herself as she sat there, looking at the overwhelming environment around her.

She swore she had to be the most underdressed woman there for the occasion.

When her grandma told her it was a girl hang out day in the sun she thought: light dress that wouldn't limit her movement and that she wouldn't get too hot in, not extravagant ball-worthy gown with so much detailing in it it made your head hurt, or so wide that you could fit a table underneath.

Okay so she was being harsh with those thoughts. She herself did love to dress up nicely, especially for big occasions, so she didn't blame any of the women. She thought they were stunning.

She just didn't think this particular occasion was that important so she thought more about her own comfort first.

Anyway there was nothing she could do now. She'd been to these kinds of gatherings before and she knew what to expect, which was why she always brought a book with her.

The one she'd brought this time was all about the different types of flowers the world had to offer.

Some might think that that would be boring, but Laura was obsessed with it, and plus, I don't think the queen of the sun reading romance novels would be the best look at such a big event.

"Gather up ladies! Time for tea" they called out, and it was her que to get up from her bench and approach the table like everyone else was doing.

She actually didn't know a lot of these girls. To be honest she didn't have any friends that were royal or high status. She just never clicked with anyone as they often were selfish or airheaded.

She didn't want to make generalizations, but her past history of people she'd met didn't lie.

Not even two seconds after the tea was spilled and everyone was free to eat up the biscuits and sweets. She could hear whispers from every corner of the table as everyone talked to their own friends about the other girls sitting in that table.

Of course, she heard her name brought up way too many times for her liking, but she kept her cool. This was her life, after all.

'Queen Laura looks stunning today don't you think?'

'Oh please, no puffy sleeves or bottom? What was she thinking? God I could not be caught dead walking around in that'

'I think it's pretty. It gives her a youthful look'

'Isn't she youthful? She looks eighteen'

Ignore them. Keep drinking your tea.

'She's twenty five'
