The moment my snake appeared beneath me, I dropped into a crouch and pressed one hand against the scales of his enormous head.

Ahead of us, the battlefield had descended into chaos.

The Ten-Tails' creatures swarmed across the earth in every direction, colliding with shinobi from all five nations. Explosions illuminated the sky. Screams mixed with the thunder of Jutsu. Somewhere behind me, Naruto was shouting orders while Sakura's Katsuyu divided herself across the battlefield.

But I barely heard any of it.

Because I could feel him.

That chakra.

Orochimaru's influence twisted through it, but underneath that was something horribly familiar.

Uchiha.

Family.

Seiichi.

My eyes found him through the chaos.

He stood near the Ten-Tails as though he'd been waiting for me.

"I need you to get me through those things," I murmured to my snake. "Straight toward him."

His enormous eye shifted toward Seiichi.

"And while you're doing that..."

I closed my eyes.

"I'm going into Sage Mode."

There was a beat of silence behind me.

"What?"

Sasuke.

I ignored him.

"(Y/N)."

Still ignored him.

I pressed my palms together.

Immediately, I reached outward.

Past my own chakra.

Past the thousands of signatures surrounding me.

Past the devastation and blood and fire.

Toward something older.

Something deeper.

Nature.

The energy was everywhere once I stopped trying to find it.

In the earth beneath us.

In the wind brushing against my skin.

In the creatures fighting around me.

In every blade of grass that hadn't yet been burned away by the war.

I drew it toward myself.

Slowly.

Carefully.

Just as I'd been taught.

My chakra intertwined with nature energy, and immediately I felt the difference.

My senses sharpened.

The battlefield expanded.

Suddenly, I could feel everything.

Thousands of shinobi.

Naruto.

Sakura.

Sasuke.

The Hokage.

Madara.

Obito.

And—

My eyes opened.

Seiichi.

He was staring directly at me.
