Naruto Enters the Battle

I was still searching for Itachi when Lord Inoichi's voice suddenly echoed through the communication network.

"Commander, we have a situation. Naruto Uzumaki and Killer Bee have escaped the island. Lady Tsunade and Lord Raikage are moving to intercept."

I stopped so abruptly that sand sprayed around my feet.

For a moment, I simply stared into space.

Then I pinched the bridge of my nose.

"Naruto..."

Even after everything.

The war.

The casualties.

The entire world depending on him staying hidden.

He still managed to cause problems.

Some things never changed.

Letting out a long sigh, I turned around and headed in Naruto's direction.

The snake hidden on his person made tracking him embarrassingly easy.

I found them less than twenty minutes later.

Naruto immediately noticed me.

His shoulders dropped.

"Oh no."

I crossed my arms.

"Oh no is right."

Killer Bee looked between us.

"Uh oh. Mama's angry."

Naruto pointed accusingly.

"You're here to stop me."

"Congratulations," I deadpanned. "You figured it out."

Naruto groaned.

"Not you too."

I walked toward him.

"Do you have any idea how much effort went into keeping you hidden?"

"No."

"Good. Because if you did, you'd feel guilty enough to turn around."

He folded his arms.

"I'm not going back."

"Naruto—"

"No."

"Naruto."

"No."

We glared at each other.

The problem with Naruto was that he was one of the few people on Earth capable of matching my stubbornness.

Possibly surpassing it.

"I know everyone is trying to protect me," he said.

"Then stop making our jobs harder."

His expression hardened.

"People are dying out there."

The words hit harder than I wanted them to.

I looked away.

Because he wasn't wrong.

Somewhere on those battlefields, shinobi were dying every minute.

Some were people I knew.

Some were people I had trained beside.

Some were people whose names I'd never even learn.

"They're after me," Naruto continued quietly. "Me and Bee."
