Suddenly, Naruto became engulfed in the Nine-Tails' chakra.
I immediately tensed.
This had always been Naruto's greatest weakness. He felt everything so intensely that sometimes those emotions overwhelmed him.
And my father knew exactly how to exploit that.
The moment Orochimaru mentioned Sasuke again, the chakra around Naruto exploded outward.
A second tail formed.
Then, moving faster than any of us could react, Naruto launched himself at Orochimaru and drove a fist into his face.
The impact sent my father crashing through row after row of trees.
For a moment, silence fell.
Then Orochimaru emerged from the wreckage.
The side of his face where Naruto had struck him had peeled away completely, revealing the face of the body he currently occupied beneath the disguise.
As casually as if he were adjusting a mask, he used the Face Copying Technique to restore his appearance.
Naruto didn't stop.
The Nine-Tails' chakra surged again.
A third tail formed.
The air itself became heavier.
Even from where I stood, I could feel the chakra pressing against my skin.
A swirling vortex of crimson chakra began to form above Naruto's head.
Then he attacked again.
Kabuto attempted to strike from behind with his Chakra Scalpels.
Naruto noticed instantly.
A monstrous roar erupted from him.
The shockwave launched Kabuto backwards like a ragdoll.
He crashed into Sakura, sending both of them flying.
Kabuto tore straight through the bridge and disappeared into the forest.
Then Naruto's attack finished what he started.
Tenchi Bridge exploded.
Wood splintered.
Stone shattered.
And Naruto chased Orochimaru into the forest.
I followed.
Not because I wanted to.
Because I needed to.
Eventually I reached a clearing where Orochimaru had stopped running.
Naruto arrived moments later.
High above us, Sai circled on one of his ink birds, observing the battle.
Then things became worse.
Much worse.
Naruto ripped Orochimaru's arm clean off.
Orochimaru simply shed his body and emerged from a new one.
But I barely noticed.
My attention was fixed on Naruto.
The chakra was burning him.
His skin was splitting.
Peeling away.
His body was being torn apart by the Nine-Tails' power.
And still he kept fighting.
A fourth tail emerged.
