Sakura came to visit Sasuke the moment she heard what happened. We sat quietly beside his bed for a while, the steady beeping of the machines filling the silence.

Eventually, Sakura looked at me hesitantly. "What really happened?"

I stared down at Sasuke's unconscious form.

Then I finally told her everything.

Starting with that night.

Flashback

It had started like any ordinary day.

I had gone to see Itachi before he left for work. At the time, I couldn't explain it, but something about him had felt... off.

Distant.

Withdrawn.

Sad.

There had been a heaviness in his eyes that I had never seen before.

When I asked what was wrong, he smiled at me the same way he always did.

Soft.

Gentle.

Loving.

And I believed him.

We went to the academy as usual and tried our best to get through the day. Later that afternoon, my Medical Ninjutsu training ran overtime. Sasuke offered to wait for me like always despite me insisting he go home first.

By the time we reached the Uchiha compound, the sun had already begun to set.

The silence was the first thing I noticed.

The compound was never silent.

Not like that.

No voices.

No footsteps.

No sounds from the training grounds.

Nothing.

A horrible feeling settled in my stomach.

Sasuke and I turned the corner—

—and froze.

Bodies.

Everywhere.

Uchiha bodies covered the streets.

Blood stained the stone paths.

Weapons lay abandoned beside unmoving hands.

My breathing stopped.

Sasuke grabbed my wrist and we ran.

We tore through the compound toward home, desperately hoping—

praying—

that his parents were alive.

We searched every room.

Nothing.

Then—

a sound.

From the prayer room.

Sasuke shoved the doors open.

And the world ended.

Uncle Fugaku and Aunty Mikoto lay lifeless in the middle of the room.
