In the weeks after the second task, I had never been more grateful of my powers and my somewhat immunity to the cold. It took a full day for my powers to return, not a few hours like Loki had told me. The potion he gave was one that Dumbledore had actually made, which explained why the affects didn't wear off as quickly as it should have. Midgardians have a completely different reaction to some potions than Asgardians. Meaning no matter how great a wizard Dumbledore was, he would never have been able to predict the outcome of the potion or how long it would last. After I found that out, I made Loki promise that if I had to take any sort of potion that suppressed my powers again, he would make it for me instead. I know I could trust him more than anyone else in the world with such a potion.
For the day that I didn't have my powers, Cedric spent the whole day fussing over me even though I told him not to. But he thought it was his fault I didn't have my powers back, no matter what I told him. So, I spent the whole day sitting on one of the couches in the common room that was right in front of the fireplace with my pink fluffy dressing gown on and a massive blanket covering me with Cedric's arms wrapped around me. Honestly, it wasn't a bad way to spend the day but I just wish I could have enjoyed it more instead of continuously shivering from the cold.
Hermione was also on a mission to expose Rita Skeeter after the second task after and an article she had wrote about her. Skeeter claimed that Hermione had broken Harry's heart after moving on from him with Viktor and had told the readers that he had asked her to visit him Bulgaria during the summer holidays. Which he did do, but the thing was the woman had been barred from the Hogwarts grounds so how did she know what Viktor had said to Hermione.
The article had also caused Hermione to get large amounts of hate mail, telling her that she was a horrible person and that Harry could do so much better than her. She tried to act like it wasn't upsetting her but when I found her running up to the hospital wing with her hands undiluted bubotuber pus that someone had sent her, she broke down crying. The stress of all of it was getting to her, so I sat with her in the hospital wing while Madam Pomfrey fixed her hands and let her cry on my shoulder.
By the time that we left the hospital wing, Hermione was more determined than ever to find out how she was getting her information. Unfortunately, Skeeter's article on Hagrid had parents continuing to write to Dumbledore about how unsafe it was for a half giant to be teaching their children. So, we were stuck with Professor Grubbly-Plank who was brought in as a temporary teacher until the whole thing was sorted out. It wasn't that I didn't like Professor Grubbly-Plank, but she wasn't Hagrid and she seemed to think that I wasn't being completely honest about how I knew Newt Scamander. But I couldn't be bothered trying to correct her anymore, so I just kept quiet and did my work while counting down the days for Hagrid to come back.
But no matter how much Professor Grubbly-Plank tried to tell me I didn't know as much about magical creatures as I thought, even though I did get 100% on my owls and was Newts unofficial apprentice, I refused to let her stop me from being excited about what ever magical creature was going to be featured in class. And today's magical creature was an occamy, which was something I always wanted to see in person.
