Back in Ninjago City, Zane and Pixal had continued to search for Milton Dyer's location, but still with no success.
Pixal had ventured out to gather information, so Zane was left to investigate on his own.
But the more time that went by, the more anxious he became. Having the feeling of Aly not being around was really getting to him, and it was taking a toll on him.
But one evening, he stumbled across old detective movies books which Cole kept in his room. Zane had a quick glance at them, and decided to try a different approach to his investigations.
In hopes of success, and in hopes of distracting himself.
3rd Person POV:
"Ninjago City.
My city.
I know it like the insides of my own circuits.
Which is why I know...It has a dark side.
My best friends and the love of my life are trapped inside an immersive video game called Prime Empire."
Zane stood on top of a large building, monologuing to himself in a giant trench coat and fancy hat. He decided to talk just like the detectives he'd seen in Cole's movies, for a better chance on succeeding in his task.
The Nindroid looked out at the darks streets bellow him, viewing the cars which drove by.
He sighed, and reached into his pocket, pulling out a small picture with him and his love.
"Aly...I will bring you home."
He found himself staring at the picture, almost losing himself in it. He never thought it would be this hard without her, but he would do anything to bring her home.
Anything.
Suddenly, a flock of birds flew in front of him, startling the Nindroid.
The photo slipped from his fingers, and started to fly away. But luckily, he caught it before he could lose it.
He breathed a sigh of relief, and put away the picture before turning to the city again.
He closed his eyes, and tried to regain his previous mindset.
"Yeah...you heard that right.
They're being held there by a villain named Unagami.
But Unagami isn't his real name.
It's as fake as a used car salesman's smile.
His true identity is Milton Dyer, the computer programmer who designed Prime Empire.
The only hope for getting them out of the digital world rests on finding Dyer in the real world.
My world.
I was fishing for leads, but for now I find myself adrift on a sea of dead ends..."
Someone caught Zane's attention, and he turned to find Pixal coming to him through the smoke.
"Then, help arrived."
"There you are, Zane." "She said, coming to assist me with my current investigation." Pixal was confused with Zane's sudden change in behaviour. "Who are you talking to? And why are you dressed like that?" She asked him, making him look down at his clothing.
"Since we are engaged in detective work, tracking down a missing person, I have downloaded thousands of detective books and movies as research." Zane explained, but Pixal wasn't buying it. "And that has to do with...hats?"
