Chapter 24: LAMENTIS

Just before the TVA showed up in the store in Alabama, the Variant had started getting information from C-20 by using a memory from a long time ago.

Afterward, the Variant made it to the TVA and fought her way through the Minutemen to get through to the Time Keepers.

Then before the portal closed, Loki and Jamie made it there.

"How do we do this?" Jamie wondered.

"I guess we follow the guards she took out," Loki told her.

She nodded, grabbed some weapons, and they went after her. Just as he said, there were some Minutemen down so they continued on that path.

After the Variant had taken the two out at the gold elevators, Loki and Jamie found her. They soon prepared their weapons.

"A few questions," Loki said.

"Have you got nothing else to do?" the Variant asked.

"Rude. Are you sure you're a Loki?" Loki wondered as they circled each other.

"You sure don't entirely act like one," Jamie commented.

"You two are in my way," the Variant said.

"You are our way," Loki remarked.

They then started fighting, dodging each other's attacks until Jamie got the Variant in a headlock.

"I thought perhaps we three could work together," Loki proposed.

Then she head butted Jamie then kicked Loki in the gut.

"But you lack vision. No fun," Jamie said.

Then the Variant headed for the gold elevators.

"So, either you'll come willingly. Or you won't. Either way, that's how we get to the Time-Keepers," Loki remarked, putting her in an armlock.

"Oh, God. Shut up!" the Variant shouted.

They tumbled over before she knocked Jamie to the side and she and Loki had their blades at their throats.

"Hey!" the judge, Renslayer, shouted.

They turned to see her with two Minutemen as they activated their melt sticks.

"Come any closer and I'll kill him," the Variant warned.

"Go for it," Renslayer shrugged.

"You know what? You suck," Jamie snapped as she got up.

Then just before Renslayer could use her weapon, Loki got himself, Jamie, and the Variant out of there.

They landed on their backs and the Variant attempted to grab the Tempad until Loki grabbed her leg and pulled her back.

"Get off my leg!" the Variant shouted.

She then kicked him with her other leg before Jamie tackled her. They went at it before the Variant elbowed her in the face and grabbed the Tempad.

"Goodbye, Variant and Time-Jumper," the Variant remarked.

But before she could activate the Tempad, the batteries were dead.

"You're outta juice," Miss Minutes informed as Loki and Jamie struggled to get up.

"It's not working," the Variant panicked a bit.

Then they fought again until Loki disappeared, reappeared behind her, and threw the Variant into the crates. With that, Jamie grabbed the Tempad and gave it to him.

"Right..." Loki said.

"Give it to me. You don't know how to recharge it," the Variant ordered.

"Of course I do. You're not the only tech savvy Loki," Loki remarked.

"Don't ever call me that," the Variant said.

"Tech savvy?" Loki asked.

"No, a Loki," Jamie clarified.

Then the Variant attempted to grab the Tempad, but Loki made it disappear. He smirked at her until she grabbed Jamie and held a knife at her throat, making him scared.

"So you do have a weakness," she smirked.

"I wouldn't call her a weakness. She has helped me get through the TVA and doesn't like it anymore than you do," Loki replied.

He then made Jamie disappear from the Variant's grasp and reappear beside him.

"Thanks," she whispered.

"Anytime," he said.

"You're just fully a magician then?" the Variant asked.

"Fine. For my next trick with the help of my lovely assistant, I'll make you disappear," Loki stated.

Then a small chunk flew through the tent they were in.

"Is that one of your powers?" Loki asked.

"Where did you send us?" the Variant wondered.

"It can't be," Jamie whispered in fear.
