Then Sylvie and Jamie attacked, but Loki had grabbed them.
"Oh, holy..." He Who Remains commented.
Then he pulled them back.
"What're you doing?" Sylvie asked.
"Hang on a moment. Let's just talk about it," Loki said.
"Well, how about we finish what we started and kill him?" Jamie suggested in a small harsh tone.
They continued fighting, even Sylvie and Jamie teaming up a bit.
"What if he's telling the truth?" Loki pointed out.
"So what?" Sylvie remarked.
"I believe him," Loki told him, making Jamie roll her eyes in frustration.
"Believe what? That a bazillion boogeymen will turn up just because we give people free will? He's a liar, Loki," Sylvie said.
"So am I. And I don't think he was lying. Not about that. Insane? Yes. But maybe he was telling the truth," Loki said.
"You can't be serious. He tells us we're basically puppets that are tied to his strings and you're going along with that?" Jamie told him.
"Better hurry. Timeline's already branching," He Who Remains informed.
"So, what are you suggesting?" Sylvie asked.
"That we think about it," Loki answered.
"You really think there's anything to think about?" Jamie remarked.
"Weren't you listening to what he was saying? That's the gambit. Remove the dictator and what fills the void?" Loki pointed.
"Ah. You want the throne," Sylvie accused.
"No, that's not it. No," Loki said.
"I don't believe you," Sylvie remarked.
"Sylvie, Jamie, the universe is in the balance, everything we know to be true. Everything. I know the TVA has hurt all of us. But what if by taking him out, we risk unleashing something even worse? All I'm suggesting is we just take a minute to think about it. I promise you from my heart this isn't about a throne," Loki explained, mostly saying the last part to Jamie.
"I really want to believe that," Jamie said, her voice shaky.
"What was I thinking trusting you? Has this whole thing been a con?" Sylvie said.
"Really? That's what you think of me...after all this time? Sure. Why not? Evil Loki's master plan comes together. Well, you never trusted me, did you? What was the point? Can't you see? This is bigger than our experience," Loki told them.
"Why aren't we seeing this the same way?" Sylvie wondered.
"Because you can't trust...and I can't be trusted. The only one who has succeeded in both is Jamie," Loki answered.
"Then I guess we're in a pickle," Sylvie said.
"And a big one at that," Jamie added.
The women then tried to book it back to kill He Who Remains, but Loki tried to stop them, while telling them to wait. It finally got to a point where Jamie was struggling to get off the ground and Sylvie and Loki had their weapons locked.
"Maybe he's lying! Maybe he's not. The cost of getting this wrong is too great," Loki said.
"Fine. Do it. Kill me. Take your throne," Sylvie commanded.
"No," Loki refused.
They fought a bit more then Jamie charged for He Who Remains.
"Jamie! No!" Loki called but then disappeared.
Jamie then leapt at him with her weapon ready.
