The two went into the dining room to find Mobius, eating a salad.

"We found something," Loki announced.

"No, I said, 'Don't bother me until you both've read all the files'," Mobius said.

"We have," Jamie replied.

"Every file?" Mobius questioned.

"Yes," they answered.

"Pertaining to the Variant?" Mobius continued.

"The answer isn't in the files, it's on the timeline," Loki said as they sat down.

"He's hiding in apocalypses," Jamie added.

"Which apocalypse?" Mobius asked.

"Any time in history? There's, like, a million of 'em. Ragnarok. Are you familiar?" Loki asked.

"Yes. The destruction of Asgard and most of its people. I'm sorry," Mobius told him.

"Yes, very sad," Loki replied then added, "Anyway, it got us thinking..."

"Go ahead," Mobius urged.

"Nexus events happen when someone does something they're not supposed to do, right? Well, it's a little more complicated, but, yeah. Great," Loki said.

"And then that thing they're not supposed to do, cascades into a whole range of other things that aren't supposed to happen. And so on and so forth, until eventually, a new timeline branches. Yes?" Jamie added.

"Chaotic alterations of a predetermined outcome," Mobius replied.

"Exactly. So, let's just say...Mhm," Loki started as he grabbed his salad.

"What are you doing?" Mobius questioned.

"...your salad is Asgard in this scenario," Loki finished.

"It's not Asgard, that's my lunch," Mobius said.

"It's a metaphor. Just hang in there," Jamie told him.

"I want that salad," Mobius continued.

"And I could go down to Asgard before Ragnarok causes its complete destruction and I could do anything I wanted. I could, let's say, push the Hulk off the Rainbow Bridge. There he goes," Loki said, getting the salt and shaking it on the salad.

"The salt's Hulk?" Mobius asked.

"And he could also...Set fire to the palace," Jamie added and shook the pepper on there as well.

"No, just stop. Don't set fire to the palace," Mobius said.

"Okay? I can do whatever I want to do, and it would never matter. It wouldn't go against the dictates of the timeline because..." Loki started.

Then he looked around before seeing Casey at another table.

"Excuse me," Loki said then got up.

"Oh, God!" Mobius exclaimed.

"Just wait. We got this," Jamie assured.

"You! Nice to see you. I just need this for a second. Thanks," Loki said, took his drink, then came back, saying before pouring it on the salad, "Because the apocalypse is coming. Ragnarok, Surtur will destroy Asgard no matter what I do."

"No, don't do..." Mobius remarked before sighing.

"There's the apocalypse," Loki said.

"That's the apocalypse?" Mobius asked.

"Ragnarok obliterates the salt," Jamie replied.

"Ragnarok," Mobius said.

"There it is," Loki gestured.

"What am I lookin' at?" Mobius questioned.

"Okay, it was a clumsy metaphor. But you see what we mean. It doesn't matter. It could be any apocalypse. It could be a tidal wave. It could be a meteor. It could be a volcano, a supernova," Loki replied.

"If everything and everyone around you is destined for imminent destruction, then nothing that I say or do will matter, because the timeline's not gonna branch," Jamie added.

"'Cause it gets destroyed. Hence, the Variant could be hiding in the apocalypse and do whatever he wants, and we wouldn't know!" Loki finished.

"Not bad," Mobius commented.

"It was a team effort," Loki said, smiling at Jamie, which she returned, then he continued, "Take me to a real apocalypse, to Ragnarok, I'll show you both."

Mobius chuckled then asked, "Yeah. So you can run away back to your homeland, take my sister, and you two live happily ever after? No."

"No, I'm not going home. We can go anywhere," Loki said.

"I'm not taking you for a stroll along the promenade, much less an apocalypse," Mobius remarked.

"Oh, Mobius, come on! What could possibly go wrong? We gotta properly test this theory," Jamie said.

"Well, here's a fun theory. You two lure me out into the field, he stabs me in the back, and you two celebrate. And that's a theory I don't wanna test," Mobius stated.

"I'd never stab anyone in the back. That's such a boring form of betrayal," Loki said.

"Loki, I've studied almost every moment of your entire life. And I'm sure she has because she's a fan. You've literally stabbed people in the back, like, 50 times," Mobius pointed out.

"Well, I'd never do it again, because it got old," Loki said.

"Okay," Mobius chuckled.

"Okay, look, you don't trust me, you can trust one thing. I love to be right," Loki stated.

"And so do I," Jamie added.
