Chapter 53: Meeting He Who Remains

The trio continued forward cautiously when they came across a statue.

"He Who Remains," Loki said.

"Not for much longer," Sylvie declared.

"Are we sure he's even still alive?" Jamie asked.

They heard a door opening, pointing their weapons at it. Then a man in a long robe and eating an apple appeared to them.

"This is wild. The two of you...same person. I mean, it's a little unnatural. But... Wow! Wild," the man chuckled.

He bit into his apple as the trio looked at each other in confusion before turning back to him.

"He Who Remains," Jamie said.

The man continued eating his apple as he said, "He Who Remains. She still calls me that? Creepy, right? But...I like it. Come on. Come on, let's talk in my office."

They soon followed him into an elevator, weapons still ready.

"Not what you were expecting, hmm?" He Who Remains asked.

"You're just...a man," Loki replied.

"Mmm. Flesh and blood," He Who Remains nodded.

Sylvie sniffled at that.

"Don't tell me I'm a disappointment," He Who Remains said.

"No. Just a little bit easier to kill," Sylvie stated.

She then took a swing, but he vanished and appeared in a different spot. This kept going until the three were still in the elevator. Then the doors opened and He Who Remains stood in the door.

"Come on in," he said.

They cautiously went in as he made them some tea.

"One...Two...Three. Please, take a seat. Uh, Loki. Loki, Jamie. Two sugars," He Who Remains offered.

The trio eventually sat in the chairs, ready for anything.

Then Mobius went to Renslayer to try to confront her, her realizing her secret was about to be out.

Then B-15 managed to talk to one of the Minutemen about what was going on after seeing who he thought was Renslayer as a principal in a school of 2018.
