Chapter 2
I woke with a start as the familiar dream settled over my mind, bringing with it a sheen of sweat that covered my body. I could feel my heart pound loudly against my rib cage as I shut my eyes tightly trying to get a hold of my erratic emotions. The bed sheets were twisted tightly around my body and most of the pillows had been thrown from the bed, but my focus was on the images rolling through my mind.
The red forest flashed in my vision, as did the predatory eyes staring at me through the trees. The dream was always the same, never deviating. Showing me the night I was captured and brought here.
Once my heart was beating regularly again I felt the unchanging sadness as I took in my surroundings. I was still here, in his room, and it wouldn’t be long now before he came for me, like he did every morning.
Gingerly, I looked around the now familiar dark room and felt the resentment build in my chest, the despair spreading like smoke in the wind. How could this be my life now? How could this be what fate had chosen for me?
Suddenly, the door to the room burst open, jolting me from my thoughts and bringing me back to the extravagantly bleak room. The soft covers slipped from my body as he stalked across the room to me and I immediately felt the fear rip through my body, sending my bones knocking and my skin shivering.
Ever since that first day he had never tried to mark me again but I knew he was fighting it when the wolf inside of him tried to gain supremacy if he was around me. What I didn' know was why he was figting so hard. Why was he fighting so hard against something when his wolf tried to claim what he believed to be his? Why was he showing me this kindness?
‘Get up,’ he ordered, as he pushed at his long dark hair, the muscles in his arms flexing dangerously. I quickly scrambled out of the bed, almost falling head first into the hardwood floors in my haste. Was this the way it was always going to be?
I opened my mouth to ask him what was wrong but he cut over me quickly as he started rifling through the drawers of his dresser.
‘There are new pack members we need to welcome,’ I nodded despite him not being able to see me, but remained where I was beside the bed. When he turned to face me my eyes grew wide as his own cold brown ones darkened, threateningly.
‘Don’t just stand there being useless, go and make yourself look presentable,’ he growled, gliding over to me and looming over my slight frame. My head bowed involuntarily as waves of strength and dominance rolled off him, causing my body to tremble.
‘Colby-‘
‘Alpha,’ he growled, cutting off my pitiful protest. A small whimper escaped my lips, but I daren’t take a step back from him. Not after last time. I could still feel the sting against my cheek despite being here for almost three weeks now. You had to learn your lessons quickly here, because a second mistake would often cost you your life. When he returned that day I had ran from him and locked myself in the bathroom only to have the door splinter open moments later, his red eyes darting around the room until they had rested on me where I hid behind the porcelain toilet. In a matter of seconds he had crossed the room to me and I could sense how close his wolf was to the surface only making my body tremble more viciously. He pulled me roughly from my hiding place until my ear was pressed close to his mouth.
'Never, run from me Leora,' he had warned in a voice so cold I could feel it in my toes. 'Never.' I nodded quickly as he released me and I took a hurried step back from him but I didn't get far before I felt the sting of his hand against my cheek before I crumpled to the floor. He spun from the room before I had fallen and I was left alone again to deal with my pain as the realisation of how trapped I truly was sunk in. I didn't see him after that for several days. I couldn't even use the opportunity to escape because there were two men stationed outside the door all day and night.

Werwolf'So,' I started, unsure of how to approach this new Colby. 'Are you letting me go?' 'No,' he growled and I watched as his eyes darkened, but they didn't turn charcoal and I could tell he was more in control than he ever had been before. 'You can nev...
