Chapter 18

I had been left alone for several minutes now and I was getting anxious and agitated from sitting around.

Sighing in frustration I started to open drawers in Breadon's desk, thumbing through paper work, maps and other useless documents.

Finding nothing interesting in his drawers I started to look through the mess that was his desk, realising it was about as organised as a two year olds crayon box.

Noticing a large map hidden beneath the piles of paper work I started to move it all aside until I had a clear view. Immediately, I recognised what it was, a map of Colby's territory.

'How did they get this information?' I muttered, running my fingers over the roughly draw markers for where they thought landmarks were positioned within the territory. Looking it over I realised much of what they had mapped was inaccurate.

'Colby's house is no where near there,' I breathed looking at where they had place it, beside a large river that ran through the packs territory. I had heard no river and one that large would have been obvious. Michael's house wasn't even on the map. The pack village seemed to be the only accurately mapped landmark.

Frowning deeply at the inaccuracies of the map I didn't notice I was being watched until their voice shattered through my thoughts.

'I see you've already acquainted yourself with my brother's private documents. Have you garnered all the secrets the Red Alpha requires?' Koron asked in a deadly tone, my skin crawling as terror started to take over.

I said nothing in reply and instead kept my attention focused solely on him as he moved gracefully into the room. Why would Breadon have sent him to watch me?

'I don't know how you've tricked my brother, but know that your staying here will only be temporary.' He threatened, stepping around Breadon's desk to stand beside me.

Still remaining silent I watched as he looked down at the map my hand still rested against, my heart hammering behind my ribs.

'It has taken us years to map out the Red Alpha's lands,' he said thoughtfully. 'We lost many wolves to gain this information, lost to the very man you claimed to be the prisoner of.'

'I was his prisoner,' I ground out. 'You were there in that prison, you saw the way he treated me.'

'I saw many things that day,' he answered knowingly and I knew he was dancing along a very dangerous line.

'Did you see me save your life?' I spat, feeling my anger bubble deep inside of me. 'Stepping between you and him nearly cost me my own life and yet when I went to you in the hope you would offer me sanctuary you instead tortured me. You took pleasure in the pain you inflicted upon me.'

'How can I trust the Red Alpha's whore?' He shrugged, looking down at the map with disinterest.

'I am not who you have labeled me as. I am a victim.'

'Your words are meaningless little wolf,' he chuckled. 'You will not convince me of your innocence, not when I've seen the truth.'

'And what truth do you think you have seen?' I hissed, turning on him, flames lighting behind my eyes.

'You have a power in you little wolf, one so powerful it was able to bring down the strongest wolf in existence. I don't know what it is or how you did it but I am certain that I will use it to remove him from this world.' He promised, tapping on the inaccurate location of Colby's house.

'I don't know what you saw that night but be certain of this,' I warned. 'There is nothing in me that can bring that man to his knees. He will kill you, without hesitation, without reason.'
