Chapter 37
Leora
After three hours of sitting in the large dining room, listening to the Alphas and their Betas argue over trivial problems between their packs, I was beginning to wish I hadn't persuaded Breadon to let me come. Especially, considering he hadn't listened to me at all and there were five guys standing behind me in addition to Steven and Joey. Not to mention the seven guys I counted outside the door when we walked in. That made a grand total of fourteen guys and they were just the men I could see. Who knew how many he was hiding from me.
When I called him on it and told him to send them away he just laughed and gave me a kiss on my forehead.
I had spent the first hour of this meeting shooting him angry looks which he was more than happy to ignore. Bastard.
Now, I was trapped inside a room listening to grown men argue over whose pack was bigger Although, I was pretty sure that was just a guise for what they were really arguing over.
You can leave whenever you want, Leora.
Breadon taunted and my only answer was silence. I wasn't going to give in that easily. I could hear his laughter in my head and it only made my scowl deepen. Surely, we would get to the real issue soon.
Not even ten minutes later I heard Jayden release a frustrated sigh before he got to his feet.
'Enough,' he commanded and for a moment the shock of his voice caused the other men in the room to fall silent. I was shocked he had the courage to stand among these Alphas. Especially, considering how much older they all were than him.
'Sit down, pup. You're embarrassing yourself,' Alpha Gordon laughed, dismissing him with a wave of his hand.
'Don't talk to him like that,' I defended, the words already escaping my mouth before I could think of the consequences.
'Or what, little Luna?' Gordon challenged and I felt my body flush with heat as the Alphas and Betas all turned their attention to me. 'You shouldn't even be here. Terrance was wise enough to leave his Luna in her room. Why don't you run along and join her on a shopping spree, or whatever it is you she-wolves do?'
'I have as much right to be here as any of you. I am a leader of the New Knight pack and those are my pups that are going missing.' I shot back, placing my hands on the table and leaning towards the Alpha.
'What kind of leader runs from her own pack?' He mocked, resting back in his chair as if he had won something. Instantly, I felt guilt flood my body and any fight or fire I had inside of me shrivelled up into ash and dust. 'Why don't you stick to what a Luna is good for?' He sneered, his eyes flashing dangerously before he spoke again. 'Pleasing her Alpha,' he finished in a low growl and I felt a wave of nausea sweep across my body.
Suddenly, flashes of my first day in the pack house filled my vision and all the insults the pack members had thrown at me. Before I knew what I was doing, I had lunged across the table and struck Gordon. As soon as I had drawn blood in the shape of three long claw marks down the side of his face I felt hands on my waist pulling me back.
'Leora, that's enough,' Breadon scolded, keeping a hand wrapped tightly around my waist and pressing me to his side. I could feel the hum of his body beside me, the only indicator that his body was filled with as much anger as mine.
I never took my eyes off the Alpha. I was breathing hard and my claws were still extended. I watched as Gordon touched his face and brought them away to find blood on his fingers.
The rest of the room was silent, my laboured breathing the only noise that could be heard.
'You need to collar that bitch,' Gordon spat, wiping away some of the blood that had started to ooze from his cheek.

Werewolf'So,' I started, unsure of how to approach this new Colby. 'Are you letting me go?' 'No,' he growled and I watched as his eyes darkened, but they didn't turn charcoal and I could tell he was more in control than he ever had been before. 'You can nev...
