Chapter 43
Breadon
It had been a week since Leora had returned and in that time she had already mapped out the exact location of the cave and given both my brother and me all the information she had gathered from her time spent trapped down there.
Koron kept Kora by his side, always. After everything Leora had told him about her father, he was too paranoid to ever let her out of his sight. It was the same with the rest of the pack. Every pack member had been instructed to keep their children under close watch. They were never to be alone for any reason.
Danny's father, one of the visiting Alpha's came the very next day to pick up his daughter. My mate was distraught as she told the family that their other little girl wouldn't be returning to them but when I went to comfort her, she brushed me aside and disappeared for several hours. I barely restrained myself from following her. But she needed time and space, and I needed to respect that.
After the first night, she told me everything that happened to her while she was a prisoner of her father. As far as I was concerned that monster didn't deserve the title. Despite all the horrors of my mate's life, I was living in constant awe of the woman she had become.
However, the little show I put on after she left had only strengthened the other alphas' resolve to help us. They were reluctant to believe the supposed mate of the Red Alpha and even less willing to listen to the word of a Luna they believed was a deserter of her pack. I knew, as did Leora that without the support of the other packs we had no way of taking down her father. She was powerful, but he had been doing this for hundreds of years. We were going to need all the help we could muster, and I was afraid that if we couldn't get it, she would go it alone.
I watched her closely over the past week, and she would get this look in her eye. This faraway look that told me she was tired of waiting. She had seen the horrors, the stolen children and the torment that man was putting them through and all she wanted was for them to be set free. I was just afraid of the price she was willing to pay to achieve it.
It was barely daybreak, and despite having my mate back under the same roof, I was still struggling to sleep. She was several doors down from our room, and it was driving me to the brink of insanity. I wanted her beside me, but that wasn't what she needed. I knew she was struggling too because Joey had told me. Her nightmares were growing more frequent, and they always featured the same red eyes that have been haunting her since the day she crossed into my territory.
I was staring blankly up at my ceiling, waiting to get up when there was a tentative knock on my door, and I knew immediately who was on the other side.
Without waiting for my reply, the door silently swung open and closed again. I shuffled up the bed until I was leant against the pillows watching as my beautiful mate glided across the hardwood floors. She had an anxious look in her brown eyes, and I was instantly on high alert.
"What's wrong, baby?" She stopped where she was, mere steps away from the edge of the bed, not realising I was already awake and watching her.
"You're awake." She stated, eyeing me warily and shuffling on her feet.
"I don't sleep much."
"Right," she muttered, tucking some of her loose blonde hair behind her ear and a pang of longing ran through my chest. I wanted to feel the silkiness of her hair and the softness of her lips, but she kept me at arm's length.
"Did you need something?"
"I-I..." she stuttered, and her nervousness was quickly returning. Pink dusting her cheeks and her eyes restless. "I had a bad dream." She started, her eyes snapping to mine as if she was daring me to mock her. When I just sat, waiting for her to continue, she did. "It didn't feel like a dream. It felt like a message. That sounds insane..."

Hombres Lobo'So,' I started, unsure of how to approach this new Colby. 'Are you letting me go?' 'No,' he growled and I watched as his eyes darkened, but they didn't turn charcoal and I could tell he was more in control than he ever had been before. 'You can nev...
