Chapter 14
'Where are we going now?' I asked when we were finally out of the diner. Thankfully we were leaving because I was getting pretty tired of everyone watching my every move. Then Tia wouldn't stop talking to Breadon and he didn't seem to want to go. She tried to engage me in conversation but I was only capable of monosyllabic answers.
'I'm going to show you the rest of the town,' he answered, giving my hand a tight squeeze.
I followed obediently by his side, taking in the town as he pointed out different stores and good places to get ice-cream. I was only partially in the conversation as I instead took in the people of this town.
Most of the humans I realised went about there lives completely oblivious to the threat within their midst and those who I did scent as werewolves were discretely trying to watch me. Many held looks of contempt and I couldn't help but wonder what rumours were already spreading about me. Had Koron revealed where I had been found? What lies had he been feeding the members of Breadon's pack?
'Leora,' Breadon prompted and I reluctantly pulled my eyes away from the street to find him looking at me expectantly. 'I just need to speak with someone. Will you wait right here until I come back?'
'Where are you going?' I frowned, looking around nervously as a girl with bright red hair and dark brown eyes glared at me from down the sidewalk.
She had a posse of three other girls who all seemed to be wearing a variation of the same outfit. Short skirt, tiny top and inappropriate heels for the middle of the day. I commended their commitment to the cause of fashion, it was freezing out here and they had next to nothing on. I could almost sense that they wanted to approach me, they were just waiting for the opportune moment.
'Just inside this store,' he explained, pointing at a store that read, 'Carlton's Camping supplies.'
'Can't I come?' I asked distractedly watching as the group of girls huddled together around the redhead, like a quarterback speaking to his troops before an important play.
'I'm only going to be a few minutes,' He answered, dodging my question.
'Okay,' I frowned, trying not to press the issue.
'Thank you baby girl, I won't be long,' he promised pressing a gentle kiss to my forehead before ducking inside.
I fidgeted nervously as I glanced around the busy streets. I felt exposed and vulnerable, a feeling I was fast becoming accustomed to.
Eventually, my eyes returned to the group of girls and as soon as they made eye contact they broke their huddle and started making their way down to me. I was certain they could smell the fresh scent of meat of me.
'Hello Leora,' the red headed leader sneered and there was no mistaking her hostility towards me.
'Hi,' I muttered back, trying to edge myself away from them. I glanced up at the store searching for Breadon but he was nowhere to be seen.
'So, rumour is you're our Alpha's mate,' she sneered, her brown eyes narrowing on me.
'Well-'
'Trish's mate, Steven, says you were captured trying to escape Red Curse pack territory,' she continued looking back at one of the blondes behind her whose glare strengthened at the mention of her mate.
'I don't think this is any of your business,' I bit back, how had these girls found all this out so quickly?
'This is our pack, which makes you our business,' she spat back, her minions giving approving nods behind her and again I looked at the door of the camping store wishing Breadon would step through. 'Just know Leora, we protect our own, especially our alpha.' She threatened, before she reached out and grabbed my injured wrist. I let out a cry of both surprise and pain, unable to stop myself before she saw my weakness. 'Watch your back, Luna.'

Hombres Lobo'So,' I started, unsure of how to approach this new Colby. 'Are you letting me go?' 'No,' he growled and I watched as his eyes darkened, but they didn't turn charcoal and I could tell he was more in control than he ever had been before. 'You can nev...
