Chapter 11

'Answer me,' Koron shouted for what seemed like the hundredth time. He had been here for hours, alternating between physically pushing me to my limits of abuse, till every inch of my skin was covered in purple bruises and blood seeped from every wound, staining the stones red. Then he would shift and try a gentler approach as my body desperately tried to heal itself but there was very little left in my reserves to push the healing process along.

Whichever approach he was using it was clear I wouldn't be able to survive much longer. I was breaking and it wasn't only my body that was suffering.

'Please,' I begged, trying to crawl away from him but his arm quickly shot out and grabbed me around the throat before lifting me and pressing me harshly into the wall of the cell.

I struggled against his hold as his grip tightened. My head was becoming light as my good hand tried to pry his fingers away. My body thrashed against the wall and tried to lash out at him but nothing worked.

My body was becoming desperate and I felt my skin begin to tingle and burn. I felt my canines slide in and then back out again, pain searing through my mouth. Glancing at the arm that held his, trying to get free and I could see golden fur begin to cover it before it disappeared faster than it had come. Claws sliced through my fingers and then disappeared again only to return moments later, digging themselves into Koron's arm causing him to release me in shock. I crumpled to the floor, not even registering the pain of the fall as my body started to lose control.

'What the-' his sentence was cut off as I let out a piercing scream, my entire body lighting with an indescribable pain.

White light danced behind my eyes as my back arched trying to find some relief. I felt the overwhelming sensation of shifting but my body couldn't break the barrier. I had lost all control and all I could do was wait out the storm. I knew my eyes were closed against the pain but still I saw his green eyes, his dark torturous green eyes, watching me.

I vaguely heard the sound of a door opening and then hurried footsteps against the floor.

'The Alpha is coming,' they warned roughly and I heard someone curse under their breath.

'How far away is he?' Koron demanded.

'Not far,' they answered distractedly. 'What's wrong with her?'

'No idea, she appears to be trying to shift.' Koron answered dismissively as another wave wracked my body trying to push the shift into action.

'What are we going to do?' The other man asked worriedly.

'Knock her out, you know how the alpha will react to this,' Koron answered seemingly bored by this entire conversation.

'Yes Beta Koron,' and I didn't have a chance to move before I felt a boot make contact with my head, forcing me from consciousness and throwing me into blissful darkness.

'Get up,' someone demanded, but I didn't even bother moving. I couldn't anymore. It had been hours, maybe days. I wasn't sure anymore, it was easier just to stay numb. I heard the bars of the cell swing open and I slowly moved my head and pried one of my eyes open. The twins were standing at the entrance of the cell, impatient looks on their faces as I remained still where I had been left on the floor.

'Get. Up.' One of them spat and I simply closed my eyes. I heard their footsteps march across the floor until I could sense them stop right beside my head. I felt rough hands wrap tightly around my arm and suddenly I was weightless before my feet hit the ground, sending sharp pinpricks of pain up my legs.
