Chapter 5
I was tired of waking up in unfamiliar places. I was tired of passing out more, but it seemed to be the only constant in my life as I awoke to yet another unfamiliar room. Uncertain of whether I should be frightened or not I simply laid still taking in my surroundings before someone came for me, as I knew they inevitably would.
Blinking back sleep, I tried to sift through my muddled thoughts to find the one which led to finding myself here and I immediately shuddered with the memories I was in no rush to relive or repeat.
The room was small and the bed I lay in narrow. There was a tiny window that barely let in any light through the dirt and water stains which covered the glass. A strong smell of dust and mothballs assaulted my senses and my face scrunched in protest but still I did not move. When I heard the soft sound of the door opening I closed my eyes and feigned sleep, not sure if I wanted to be found awake yet.
‘Luna?’ Came a gentle, feminine voice but I didn’t stir. Who was she?
I thought if I feigned sleep long enough she would disappear but instead I heard the door creak open wider and the smell of bacon assaulted my senses immediately setting my stomach off into a low rumble I prayed she didn’t hear.
‘Luna, you should really wake up now. You need to eat,’ she insisted as I heard her set something down on a table beside the bed. I remained silent and I could almost feel her disapproving scowl. ‘Fine, but don’t blame me when your food is cold.’ She huffed, before I heard her retreating footsteps and the door closing behind her.
I stayed where I was for a little longer just to make sure she had left before I opened my eyes fully. I pushed myself into a sitting position letting the itchy woollen blanket fall from my body. Immediately feeling the chill of the room but I made no move to pull it back up or to eat any of the food.
Gingerly, I placed my bare feet on the freezing floorboards and tiptoed across the room freezing every time I felt the floor creak beneath me as if I were playing some twisted game of musical statues. Each time I froze I listened for movement from the other side of the door, but I heard none.
I froze again just as I was reaching for the door when I heard voices on the other side. I strained to hear who was talking and immediately the images assaulted me as I remembered what had happened before I had lost consciousness.
I took another hasty glance around the modest room, wondering how Colby could allow his beta to live like this and if this was how his beta lived I could only imagine the conditions the rest of his pack lived.
Paint was peeling from the walls and the floorboards were so worn they warped where there had been frequent traffic. However, the layer of dust suggested that the room hadn’t been used in years. The only personality left inside the room seemed to be a single child’s toy that was on the table beside the bed.
It was a simple blue teddy bear that was also covered in dust and seemed to have one eye lower than the other and a nose that had the stuffing coming out of it.
I didn’t know the pack had any children and thats when I realised the person who had come to see me was a woman. I quickly glanced back at the door and pressed closer, listening intently to her voice. It had been so long since I had heard a feminine voice, it seemed strange to hear it now.
‘-she can’t stay here Sephira,’ I heard Michael sigh.
‘You can’t send her back to him,’ the woman I assumed was Sephira hissed. ‘She’s been hurt badly.’
‘He’s her mate, it was a miracle he allowed me to take her from him in the first place. He won’t allow me to keep her away from him for long.’

Werewolf'So,' I started, unsure of how to approach this new Colby. 'Are you letting me go?' 'No,' he growled and I watched as his eyes darkened, but they didn't turn charcoal and I could tell he was more in control than he ever had been before. 'You can nev...
