 {Nathan's Pov}

I knelt down and hugged Lola as she cried into my chest. It came quite a shock to me too. But given I knew Nessy the least, I knew I was going to have to be a rock for Lola right now. The doctor came over.

'Do you want me to call her father?' the doctor asked me. I shook my head.

'We'll do it. Give us a moment,' I told the doctor quietly, who nodded and left the room.

I still rocked her in my arms as she cried. I knew we needed to call her dad but I also knew that she needed sometime to recover before she could speak coherently.

Even though I was meant to be the rock, I couldn't help sharing the pain. Nessy was probably the most amazing 5 year old I had ever met. She'd told me all about how she didn't know what she wanted to be when she was older, but so long as she was happy and she had people who loved her. She told me how Lola would sing silly little songs to her when she's upset and how much she likes those songs. And Lola didn't hear this because Nessy had whispered it to me, but she told me that even though when Lola's with her she happy and bright, Nessy had often noticed Lola on her own and crying and just being sad. But somehow she'd understood not to talk to her about it and instead tried her best to make Lola happy as much as she could whenever they were together – "because that's what sisters do for each other. And if she wanted to tell me something, she'd tell me. Right?" had been her exact words.

Lola's crying started to die down and she became silent, holding onto me. Tears still ran almost uncontrollably down her cheeks, but not as much now. I rubbed her back comfortingly and she put her arms around my neck. Even my eyes felt tearful.

'I... I can't believe sh-she's gone,' she whispered tearfully. I decided now would perhaps be a good time to call.

'Lo... We need to tell your dad. Do you want me to call?' I asked. She shakily sighed and nodded, almost immediately. She then pulled out of my arms and walked over to her bag. She pulled out and unlocked her phone before passing it to me. I stood up to head outside the room to make the call but stop mid-track.

'You going to be okay for two minutes? I'll be just by the door,' I said. She nodded, not lifting her gaze from the ground. I then hit the call button for her dad and closed the door behind me, walking not more than two paces away.

'Lola? You heading back yet?' came her dad's voice after three rings and then the dread of what I was about to say hit me. But I still forced myself to carry on.

'Hi er it's Nathan,' I said, testing out how he would take it.

'Oh okay. Where's Lola? Is Nesta okay?' he asked. I sighed shakily, trying to figure out how to word it.

'Nesta... She er... She... didn't make it,' I finally settled on. There was silence on the other end of the line. Well I could hear his breathing, but other than that, there was silence. This last a minute or so before he spoke again.

'How... How's Lola?' he asked. I quickly peaked in through the window. She was in the same position as I left her.

'Is there a right answer for that?' I asked him. He sighed knowingly.

'Okay... Is it too much to ask you to take her back to the hotel? I'm heading out to the hospital now,' he said.

'Not at all. Although I don't think she has her room key,' I said.

'Can she stay with you? Is that okay?' he asked.

'That's fine. Anything I can do to help,' I said.

'Alright. Well I'm sure I don't need to tell you but the three rules from yesterday apply and get one of you to check her phone tomorrow. I'll text or call,' he explained. I nodded, more to myself as he couldn't see.

'Will do. I... I hope things work out?' I offered. He sighed sadly.

'Thanks.'

Again, I don't get the side video. I was like 13 when I first put it up (I think). Don't judge.
