The trip to the hospital was an awkward, rickety one. Nessy was dressed in a hospital gown with all sorts of wires and casts all around her so that I could barely see her. Not that I wanted to see her in a messed up state. A doctor or nurse, I didn't know which, was also in the back with, probably to keep a check on the both of us.
We arrived at the hospital in what felt like an hour or two's time. Nessy was rushed off by doctors before I could blink and I was left standing in the car park, alone. The ambulance had driven off to park or attend to someone else, all the staff had gone in. Being alone in an unfamiliar place was not something I was comfortable with. I wanted someone to be there with me. And for the first time, that someone wasn't mum. It was Nathan. Even though we'd known each other for the shortest time, we'd connected and he seemed not to mind me, which was a surprise to me. I sighed and decided I was doing nothing outside and so made my way inside. I was doing this. Despite my anxiety. For Nessy's sake.
'Hola. Puedo te ayuda?' a receptionist at the counter said as I walked up and cleared my throat. Thankfully, I understood what she was saying. Hello. Can I help you?
'Mi gustaria ver mi hermana, Nesta Saley,' I replied. I would like to see my sister, Nesta Saley. As the bored face scanned the computer screen she nodded and pointed to a few rows of chairs.
'Debes esperar,' she said. You must wait. So I walked over to the chair and sat and waited. And waited. And waited.
People had come and gone as visitors and as patients. The receptionist finished her shift and I saw her leaving through the double doors, purse in her hand. Even some doctors came and went. I still waited.
It was about 12:30 when my phone rang. It was Dad.
'Hey Lola! Where are you? Nathan told me you'd gone to the hospital – thanks for telling me by the way – but I can't seem to find out where it is?' he said. The first thing I paid attention to was the fact that Nathan had told my dad. That was the second time he'd done something like that. Looking after not only me, but my family as well. I quickly recovered.
'Oh... Yeah sorry about that... I guess it was just instinctive. You can come over but nothing's happening. I've been waiting for 3 hours,' I told him. I heard him gasp.
'3 hours!? What for?'
'To go in to see her!'
He was speechless at that. A moment later he sighed.
'Look okay. Get me the address; I'll get a taxi here. And also, just ask again?' he said. Obediently, I walked outside of the hospital in attempt to find the street name. I was unsuccessful. However as I came back in, I noticed a leaflet on which was the address so I repeated it aloud to Dad.
'Great thanks. On my way now. Go and ask again,' and he hung up.
I walked back inside and went up to the receptionist. This one seemed to notice I was English and within 1 minute, I was being showed around the maze of the hospital until we finally came up to a door. She knocked and opened, sticking her head around the door, quickly explaining the situation.
'You may go in now,' she told me, opening the door wider. Just before I headed in, I turned to her.
'My dad should be coming soon too. I wonder if you could help him too?' I quickly asked her. She smiled and nodded. Then turned and left.

Also I'm pretty sure my Spanish is right here (I mean I have taken GCSE and A Level in it so it should be good). Correct me if I'm wrong.
