A sharp prod to the shoulder was what brought me out of a light nap. I opened my eyes to see both a flight attendant and the guy who had sat next to me looking at me. I took my earphones out.

'What?' I asked him, knowing that it was him that'd poked me.

'Miss, we're sorry to disturb you but there's a... er... Commotion going on involving your family down the other end of the plane. Would it be too much to ask for you to help sort it out? Their seats are row 24, A and B,' the female flight attendant explained to me. My eyes widened as I reached to take my belt off.

'Yeah sure,' I said and stood up almost immediately.

Worried as to what may be going on, I almost ran down the aisles, until I eventually found row 24 and Dad, and Nessy.

Nessy was in my Dad's arms and had tears running down her red, blotchy face. However the other customers looked rather annoyed. I straight away guessed that she'd been crying rather loudly. My immediate thought was, why would they be so annoyed? She's only 5, although she does look 3, and she's scared.

'Thanks for coming,' Dad quickly said. I bent down to Nessy.

'What's wrong Nessy?' I asked her. She reached out her little, yet growing arms to me and I picked her up. She started crying on my shoulder.

'Awh... What's wrong?' I asked her again, stroking her young, black hair

'I-i- y-you had gone,' she stumbled out and started crying again. I looked across and saw a lady with a trolley coming our way.

'Well Nessy I'm here now but I've got to go. Can you be a big girl and stay with daddy?' I asked her. She shook her head, sticking out her bottom lip. 'Do you want to come with me?' I asked her. She nodded. I looked at my Dad. He shrugged.

'Take her. I can get some rest now,' he said. I nodded and left Dad and took Nesta back to my seat. However as I did so, I noticed some of the other passengers heave sighs of relief or look happy. A rush of hatred ran through me. How could they think that!? She's only 5 and she was scared!

I sat back down and the guy rolled the plastic down once more.

'Who is she?' he asked me.

'My little sister...' I replied. I lifted Nesta off me and sat her on my lap.

'Awh she's cute.... Must be something her sister passed onto her,' he said, winking at me. I blushed a little, not knowing how to react when receiving such comments.

'Hello little one. What's your name?' he asked Nessy. Nessy looked up at him with the cutest eyes. I could see her eyes getting watery. She, like me, often got a bit nervous when meeting new people and sometimes scared.

'Come on Nessy, tell the man your name,' I said to her.

'Man!? I'm only 17!' he said, mocking a shocked expression.

'Sorry...' I said. Nessy laughed.

'Nesta!' she said, grinning proudly. She used to struggle with her 't's in the middle of words until recently so it was an achievement.

'Oh, hello Nesta. It's nice to meet you,' he said, shaking her little hand. I smiled. She was happy. I let out a sigh of relief.

'Why is she here?' he asked me as Nesta played with his hand.

'She was crying with Dad and annoying some ignorant posh people who just couldn't afford business class...' I explained, doing a posh voice near the end. He laughed a little and smirked. Suddenly I heard a click.

'Ahhh! Shhh...Sugar!' I heard the guy cry. Then I looked and saw that Nesta had bent his finger back a little and so I quickly took her hand away from his, shocked, but a secretly grateful that he hadn't full on sworn in front of her. Knowing that, I assumed it mustn't have hurt too much.

'No Nesta. That's a very naughty thing to do. Apologise to the man,' I told her anyway. She looked at me a little scared then looked at the guy with her big black eyes.

'S-sor-ry...' she said, looking down.

'Good girl,' I said, cooingly. He smiled.

'That's okay,' he said, still shaking his hand, then held his other hand out to her. 'Friends?' he asked her.

Nessy looked up at me, a smile cracking on her face. The gesture was far too adorable for me to refuse her so I nodded. Beaming, she took his hand and they shook.

'Friends!' she agreed.

That action made me feel something weird inside. Was this guy actually being nice to me for a change? Maybe it was because of Nessy. Maybe it was just us, and he didn't care too much for me. Maybe he just didn't want to make a bad impression in front of a 5 year old. Maybe-

Nessy suddenly lent back on me and I snapped out of my thoughts. Quickly looking up, I noticed the guy had a smirk on his face. What it was for, I had no idea but before the usual whirlwind of questions picked up, Nessy spoke.

'Loa.... Do you think Mummy's watching us?' she asked in a cute little voice randomly. I gulped. It was cute yet sad when she said things like that.

'Yes Nessy. I think Mummy is watching us,' I replied.

'Okay... Daddy said I should sleep on the plane so I can play when we get there,' she said, yawning a little and drifted off to sleep. We had quite an early start so she was tired – unlike most 5 year olds, she wouldn't deny that she's tired and would just fall asleep if we told her too.

The guy smiled.

'I'm guessing something happened?' he asked. I nodded. 'And you're not going to tell me,' he guessed again. I nodded. Then I sighed and leant my head back.

'Wake me up when we get there,' I asked him. He nodded and I curled up on the chair, Nesta in my arms and fell asleep.
