We got to the airport and the taxi drove off, leaving me and Dad outside the airport without luggage. We walked inside. Usually when we go to Areciffe airport, it'd be really busy but today it was almost empty! There were only two lanes open and we went to one and got out bags checked in. Then, we walked around the airport in hunt for some breakfast. I found a Subway-like place and bought a sandwich whilst Dad went to Starbucks. We met up again and sat down in an almost empty food court.
'What time's the funeral going to be Dad?' I asked him. He shrugged.
'I've got the 11 o'clock slot. It's public mass time but the priest said not many people attend that mass anyway,' he said. I nodded and swallowed the piece of sandwich in my mouth.
We then left the food court and browsed the duty-free shops until our flight was called for.
'Passengers on flight number 1728394 to London Heathrow please make your way to gate 26,' a female voice said on the intercom whilst I took a Kerrang magazine from the shelf in WHSmiths. It surprised me that they had that in Lanzarote. As I was about to stand up, I spotted Nathan on the front of one of the magazines along with the other boys. I smiled and picked it up. So he was quite famous.
'Come on hun. Let's go,' I heard Dad say, resting his hand on my shoulder. I could tell he was looking at the magazine.
'You want to get it?' he asked me. I turned it over for the price. It wasn't too expensive so I paid for it and some food and we walked towards our gate.
