We sat down for the longest five minutes of my life before Nathan decided to speak up.
'You going to be okay on your own?' he asked. I nodded. He then took a deep breath. Was he nervous?
'What's up?' I asked, nudging him gently. He sighed.
'Alright. This'll probably sound really inappropriate but in my defence, I planned this yesterday morning,' he began. I nodded, urging him to go on. He exhaled what seemed to be a calming breath.
'I er... Oh god... I was... Wondering... Whether I could take you out tonight? Whether you'd want to?'
It was a question. My mind paused for a second to sort it out. Did he just ask me out? Was this a "date"? It must be something similar from how nervous he seemed. How and why did someone as fantastic and attractive as him want to take a loser like me out on a date?
'Is that a no?' he asked me, looking upset. I looked at him and realised he wanted an answer. I shook my head immediately.
'Of course not. I'd love to come,' I said quietly. He then reached over and hugged me. This wasn't too hard as we were sat on a sofa. We pulled away and I saw that he was happy. Well a lot happier than I'd ever seen before. Did it really mean that much to him?
'I'll call after the concert and pick you up at seven?' he suggested. I nodded. He beamed once more and hugged me tightly.
'Thanks for saying yes,' he whispered. And we stayed in that position for a while. But he eventually pulled away.
Just as we pulled away, the man from the counter came up to us.
'Miss, the ambulance is here. They are loading her on now so if you would like to go,' he said, pointing towards the entrance of the hotel. I nodded.
'Thank you. I'll do that,' I told him, standing up. He bowed and left. I was about to head off before Nathan held my wrist. I turned back to look at him. He smiled, coming closer.
'What?' I asked him. He shrugged.
'Hope it goes well,' he said. And in one swift move, kissed me on the cheek. 'I'll call at 5ish.'
The kiss left me mesmerised slightly but quickly I managed to snap out of it, wanting to go to Nessy. I met the hospital staff outside and they showed me into the ambulance and within a few minutes, we left.
