{Nathan's Pov}
Who knew that a short trip to Lanzarote could've ended up like so? Who knew that I would be comforting the girl whom boys dared me to flirt with on the plane after the near death of her sister? I had come to like Lola a lot over the 3 days we'd known each other. And I'd come to really care for her. She knew so much about myself, stuff I hadn't even told the boys. Our conversations had become one of my favourite things. I had never fell so hard and fast for anyone before. Whether this was love or just a crush I was debating over. But not too much.
I held her hand as we walked around corridors to find her room. I couldn't comprehend her thoughts. I understood initial guilt but hours afterwards? She must genuinely think it's her fault. Her grip around my hand tightened as we neared the room. By the time we'd arrived, it hurt slightly but I refused to show it. She needed something, someone to hold and to not judge her. Then I knocked on the door. I heard her gulp. She must be worried. My grip around her hand tightened, in a reassuring way. Slowly, the door opened.
'Hi-,' her Dad started but stopped, after seeing Lola, with a blotchy face and her hand gripped tightly in mine. 'W-what happened?' he asked us as we came in, a very confused expression came to replace his before happiness. I looked at Lola. She looked pale and scared. It hit me then that she genuinely believed that it was her fault and that her dad would be mad at her. I wanted to give her a hug and tell her it was going to be alright but in front of her dad, I thought better of it. The door shut behind us, letting her take a breath and she spoke. She spoke for a short time but it was enough to break her down again.
'I wasn't fast enough. I'm so sorry Dad,' she managed to say, her bottom lip wobbling. I looked over at her Dad and he too was pale, with sadness not anger though. He was thinking for a moment before he spoke.
'Wh... Where is she?' he asked.
'I think they've taken her to the medical room. They'll probably be taking her to hospital soon though,' I answered, knowing that Lola was likely to break down if she opened her mouth, and also because she didn't know. He nodded and sighed.
'Oh Lola, darling. It's not your fault. I'm sure it could've been a lot worse,' he said, grasping her arm. I then noticed him glance at our interlocked hands and sigh.
'Okay. Well I'll go and see what's happening now then. You two can stay... Watch a movie maybe?' he suggested. He then gave me a look that he wanted to talk to me privately. So I nodded and we sent Lola off to choose a movie. He sighed and smiled at me.
'Okay. Rules. Don't knock her up. Don't get weird with her. Don't leave unless she wants you to,' he said, counting them all off of his fingers. My eyes widened as I stuttered.
'O-oh y-yes of course... sir,' I quickly stammered an answer. His smile turned into a smirk then shrugged.
'Call me if you two need anything,' he said in a louder voice as he turned to leave.
The door shut and we were alone. Lola brought a DVD player from the connected room and climbed onto one of the beds. She ushered me with her head to follow.
'What do you want to watch?' she asked, tossing me a pack. I had a flick through them. There were 2 James Bond movies, a few typical Tim Burton movies, 'The Magic of the Faraway Tree' and 'School Of Rock'. I remembered Lola telling me all about School Of Rock when we went to Timanfaya and how she would have loved to be in the band and how basically it was her favourite movie, apart from Narnia. So I took the disc out of its sleeve and waved it at her. A grin tugged at her mouth and she nodded, putting the disc in. The first grin I'd seen since the afternoon. My heart rose.
'You know me so well' she said. I chuckled and pulled her closer to me, along with the DVD player and pressed play. We turned up the volume and the movie started with 'Fight' by who turned out to be the "rival band" in the movie, No Vacancy. Lola rested her head on my shoulder and I held her in my arms.
