We walked across the pool area and through the gate which led across a road. We climbed down some rocks and finally arrived at the beach. Nathan led me to where the others were. Sophia got up and hugged me. Likewise with Nessy. Then I sat down on a towel that Nessy had, messily, left her things on. Nessy was playing with Ellie and Jayne was supervising them.

'Where's my Dad?' I asked out loud.

'He said he was going to hang out with this woman he'd met... Sarah or something,' Sophia replied to me. I nodded, not thinking too much about it.

'Who want a game of footie!?' I heard Tom say, as he got out a ball. Everyone but Sophia and Jay agreed. Sophia dragged him off for some photography stuff. Well, I say drag – he didn't seem to mind.

I got up and followed them to wherever they were planning on setting up. We set up two goals and split the teams. Nathan, Siva and myself against Tom and Max. Pretty fair to be honest being that both Tom and Max were pretty good at football. Nathan came over to me as the others were getting ready.

'We are going to get thrashed,' he said to me. I smiled at him.

'We might,' I said. I walked onto the "pitch" and we took our positions.

'Ready?' Max asked us. Siva and Nathan nodded but I raised my hand.

'Wait! How hard is the ball? I don't want to hurt my feet,' I asked, walking up to it. It was a legitimate question as I was in bare feet. I didn't want to wear my jelly shoes whilst playing football because sand and jelly shoes, just don't mix. The two resumed to neutral. I got to the ball and as soon as they weren't in game mode, I quickly dribbled the ball to the other side and scored a goal. As soon as I'd started dribbling, Max and Tom were too slow to get into gear to react.

'Whoo! Goal!' I cried. Siva and Nath were whooping too.

'Oh it's on,' both Tom and Max said and we got into a full on game of football.

The game lasted for about an hour until Jayne told to stop to go for lunch. In the end our team, me, Nath and Siva, had beaten Tom and Max with 8-6 (minus that first goal I scored. They wouldn't let us count that).

'Do you like play football at home?' Max asked me as we packed our stuff up to go have lunch. I nodded.

'I used to be the captain of my primary school football team. I still help out a bit,' I replied.

'Obviously,' he said. I laughed. I went and got Nessy.

'Come on Nessy! We're off to have lunch now!' I said, picking her up. She grinned at me and hugged me, getting sand all over me. I smiled and hugged her back. Nathan came over to us.

'You two ready then?' he asked. I nodded.

'Yup!' I said at the same time as Nessy exclaimed "Yes!". He laughed and nodded, placing his arm around me. I put Nessy down and took her hand and we left the beach. However before we went anywhere, we dashed to the tap outside the hotel to wash the kids as they were covered in sand.

We then went to a close by fish and chip shop. We ordered our food then sat on the promenade benches as we ate. Nessy was sat on my side eating a little bag of chicken nuggets, whilst talking to Ellie, who was eating the same thing. On the other side of me was Nathan, who strangely still had his arm around me.

'Nice place isn't it?' he commented as we looked at the scenery in front of us. I nodded in agreement.

'Yeah... Mum used to love it here. She was the one who found it for us actually,' I told him. He nodded without looking down at me.

'She's got a good taste,' he joked.

Once I finished eating, I stood up and put my polystyrene tray in the bin. As I was already up, Nathan passed me his tray to put in the bin. I sighed, rolling my eyes but did so. I then went and sat back down and leant my head on his shoulder. He ruffled my hair gently. It felt nice. And I knew Nessy and Ellie were sat next to us, but it was like it was just us around. I knew that feeling that way was wrong, especially around Nessy and Ellie, feeling selfish, but I couldn't help it. I liked it.

'You guys finished eating?' I heard Jayne call, interrupting my train of thought. I nodded and Ellie and Nessy cried 'Yes!' simultaneously. She laughed.

'Let's go then!' she said.

So we got up off the bench and walked back to the beach. By the time we got there, it was almost three. We went back to where our towels and parasol was. Nessy and Ellie immediately got their bucket and spades and ran to make sandcastles. I sat, cross legged, on the towel Nessy and I shared and sighed happily. Nathan sat down next to me.

'So...' he started. I smiled.

'So...' I repeated, mocking his voice. He laughed. Our normal conversation resumed about life at home and it was good. Perhaps too good.
