As tears crawled rapidly down my cheeks, I attempted to climb up the rocky, uneven steps to where Nessy was, but I felt arms and hands pulling me away. At the same time I'd hear a splash but that didn't satisfy me.
'Let me go!' I cried, fighting off whoever was holding me back. I then felt a new set of arms holding onto me.
'Let me go! I have to go to- I have to find her!' I cried. Around me divers and doctors and specialists were rushing around with tape, stretchers and clip boards.
'Lo, Lo calm down. They've gone to get her, she'll be okay,' I heard a soothing voice say. I recognised it as Nathan's which calmed me down a little, being someone I trusted. But I still kept fighting.
'Please. Please Nath, let me go,' I asked him shakily, in one last unsuccessful attempt. He pulled me away from the cliff and I found myself in a portakabin like building. I was sat down on a chair with an orange blanket draped over me. Nathan was sat next to me with his arm around me, whether it was for comfort or restraint, I couldn't tell.
'Have they found her?' I asked him when my breathing had returned to normal.
'I don't know. I can check, but only if you promise to stay here? We'll both get in trouble otherwise,' he said. I sighed and nodded so he got up and walked out of a door opposite to us. There was a corridor out there so I assumed he left that too.
Minutes passed and my nerves were getting worked up. He was taking a long time. I couldn't tell whether that was a good thing or not. Eventually I couldn't take it and abandoned the blanket, running down the corridor outside. At the same time Nathan was heading back inside. He caught me.
'Hey, hey Lo. What are you doing? I thought I told you to stay inside?' he said gently.
'You were taking forever. What's going on? Where is she?' I quickly replied then shot my questions. He sighed and took a tighter grip of my shoulders.
'Come on, I'll take you inside,' he said but I refused. Something was up.
'What's going on Nath? Where is she? You've found her haven't you?' I demanded. He gulped, trying to push me away but I stood my ground, with some struggle. I suddenly saw a stretcher come from the shore. Upon it was a bloodied up body whose profile looked familiar. My eyes widened with shock.
'That's not her is it?' I asked him quietly. 'Tell me that's not her!?'
Tears were breaking free again as Nathan this time forced me to go back inside. And all I knew was Nessy was as good as dead.
