I felt a light breeze on my face as I became conscious of what song was playing. Once the song finished, I stretched, took my earphones out and turned my MP3 off. Whilst fishing around in my beach bag to put my MP3 away, I pulled out my song book and pen. Then I sat up, cross-legged on the bed and started writing. Something about the air here and the sun made song writing easy. Words just flowed out of my mind, into my pen and onto paper. It was so constant; I finished writing a bunch of lyrics I could tie into a good song, in ten minutes. As I was checking over the lyrics and correcting anything I thought might not work, I got interrupted.
'Hey!' a male voice called to the side of me. I looked up to see someone quite familiar on the other side of the parasol. He had brown wavy hair and was wearing completely blacked out sun glasses. It then clicked. He was the guy from the plane. I laughed a bit.
'Hey! Didn't know you'd be staying here,' I told him. He smiled and shrugged.
'Well I didn't know that you'd be staying here... What are you doing?' he asked me, looking over at my song book.
'Song writing- well lyric writing,' I answered him simply. Although I couldn't see it, I could tell he'd raised his eyebrows.
'Can I see?' he asked. I handed the book over to him as I thought how familiar he was, and not just from the plane... Surely he wasn't that guy from that band was he? That band with the name about wanting something.
'They're not great but I like doing it,' I said admittedly. He read through them.
'You kidding!? These are great!' he said, gaping.
'Always the tone of surprise' I sighed sarcastically, quoting from Harry Potter. He looked up at me and we laughed. He handed me back the book and I started writing again as inspiration struck me.
'Do you have any like tunes or melodies to these?' he asked me. I nodded.
'Yeah, to most...,' I said. I then carried on writing and as I did, I realised a lot of the lyrics were about the guy I'd just met, who was sitting opposite me. I stopped writing and frowned at the book. Why was I writing about him? I barely knew him! I needed a break.
'I'm going to go get a drink. Do you want one?' I asked him, standing up. As soon as I spoke those words, I realised how forward it sounded and was just about to cover it up but before I did so, he nodded.
'I'll come with,' he said. I nodded, letting out a silent sigh of relief, making sure my camera case and beach bag were out of sight, we left the sunbeds to the bar.
We walked up the boiling hot steps together. Okay I walked up them. The guy, I still didn't know his name, jumped up them because they were so hot and he had no shoes on. I laughed at that and we walked into the shade of the outside cafe. We walked up to the bar.
'And what would you two like?' asked the bar man as he turned around. The guy spoke first.
'Err.... Coke?' he asked. The bar man nodded.
'What would senorita like?' the bar man asked me in a Spanish accent.
'Um orange juice?' I asked.
'Of course,' he said and turned around to get the drinks. We heard machines whirring and two shots of liquid then he turned around with two plastic cups.
'Here you are. One coke and one orange juice,' he said. We both thanked him in Spanish and taking our drinks, headed back to the sunbeds. We sat back onto our beds and sipped our drinks.
'You seem really familiar,' I decided to say to the guy.
'What do you mean?' he asked.
'You just look familiar. I swear I've seen you somewhere... Other than the plane I mean,' I replied. He shrugged his shoulders and carried on drinking. From this response, I guessed that perhaps he was from that band and didn't want to talk about it. We then started writing some lyrics and creating melodies together just for fun. Once we finished, it turned out to look quite good. We then just lay around, having a laugh until I saw Rose coming to me with Nessy. She waved at me. I waved back. They came over to us.
'She needs the toilet and the one in the mini club is out of order. She won't let us take her to the hotel and she's been moaning to see you for about an hour. Could you?' Rose asked me. I smiled and nodded, attempting to keep annoyance out of my expression. Whilst I loved her, I was having a nice time with this guy and she really had the worst timing.
Nesta ran into my arms that I held out. It might have sounded a little weird but Nessy was very dependent on the people she was close to, like my Dad and I. We weren't too sure why and tried hard to make it better but it was difficult.
'We'll be in the mini club. If not we'll be by the mini pool,' Rose said and walked back to the mini club. I hugged Nessy and got up off the sunbed. I shoved my beach bag underneath the sunbed and put the camera bag on top.
'Could you look after these please? Make sure no one takes them,' I asked the guy. He nodded. So I took Nessy by the hand and took her to the ladies.
