That evening, I helped Nessy get washed and dressed. Once she was flouncing around in her dress, I showered and washed my top. Then I got into jeans and an orange top that flared out a bit at the bottom. I put a bit more make-up on than this morning on and put my shirt out on the balcony to dry.
'You ready Lola?' I heard Dad call.
'Yep!' I called back. 'Come on Nessy. Let's get your shoes on,' I said to her as she was attempting to do a forwards roll on her bed. She landed on her bum and grinned at me. Then she climbed off the bed and ran to her shoes. I got my slip-ons out of the wardrobe and slipped them on. Then I grabbed a cardigan and helped Nessy put her shoes on. We stood up and I took the room key and slid it in my pocket along with my phone. We left the room with Dad and headed downstairs to the restaurant.
After tea, Nessy rushed me over to the mini disco. Rose was there with a bunch of other children.
'Ah Lola! Would you mind helping out tonight?' she asked me. I shook my head.
'No not at all. I'd love to help,' I said. Then I went over to Dad to put my cardigan down and went back to the disco floor just as the intro music was starting. I got to the front with Rose and we started dancing and singing along to the songs. I knew the majority of the dances to most of the songs because I'd danced to them for years.
The mini disco went on and finally, the final song came, the train song. Rose got me to go at the front as the parents and people who weren't in the disco, paired up and joined their hands to make a "tunnel" for us to walk through. Nessy grabbed my hands and the other kids formed a line behind me. It was kind of intimidating as I'd never been at the front when we did this and was always the one at the back but nevertheless, when the music started and I was off through all "tunnels". I saw Sophia had made one with one of the guys that came to the pool. She waved at me and I smiled back at her and headed for their tunnel.
The song finally came to an end and I let go of Nessy's hands as the other kids rushed back to the stage where they gave out certificates from the mini club and lollipops for all the children. Sophia came over to me.
'Hey,' she said, stifling a giggle.
'What!?' I asked her. She laughed.
'Sorry... Just you, doing the mini disco... Funny...' she sighed. I smiled, rolling my eyes.
'What's going on then? With that guy?' I asked, nudging her hard. She nudged me back harder.
'Nothing,' she said, blushing. So obviously, it was something. Then Dad came over to me.
'Hey Lola. New friend?' he asked. I nodded. The two introduced themselves.
'Hey Lola, want to come and sit with us?' she asked me, pointing to where the guys were.
'Um...' I started. Should I leave Dad?
'Go ahead hun. It's the least you can get. Want me to take Nesta?' he asked me.
'No!' Nessy said, wrapping her arms around my legs. I shrugged at Dad apologetically.
'Alright then, well I'm over there. Give a shout when you need me,' he said and walked off. I followed Sophia to the guys with Nessy tagging along.
'Hey guys! This is my new friend, who fell into the pool because of this little girl, and him,' Sophia introduced us to them, whilst pointing at the guy from the poolside. I took a seat, rolling my eyes, and Nessy sat on my lap. Sophia was next to me and the guy from the pool was on the other side. He looked over and winked at me. I raised my eyebrows. He smiled.
'So... You girls free tomorrow?' one of the guys asked. He had dark brown hair. I nodded. Sophia shrugged.
'Nothing on the agenda,' she said.
'We're off into the market on the other side of the promenade. Want to come?' the same guy offered. Sophia nodded. I did the same. Just then, a little girl suddenly came running into our little party and jumped onto Sophia.
'Woah Ellie! Watch it. What?' she asked Ellie. Ellie rested her head on Sophia's chest, likewise with Nessy. She looked annoyed. I sat Nessy up.
'Nessy, why don't you and Ellie go play with the other children?' I asked her. She nodded and climbed off my chair and walked over to Sophia and poked Ellie. The two ran off together, holding hands.
'When do you think the wedding will be?' the guy with Sophia joked. Sophia slapped him playfully on the arm and we laughed.
'There won't be one. There will just be a fight on who gets to be the bridesmaid,' I joked back. They laughed. Then the one with darker skin stood up.
'I'm off to get some drinks. Any of you lot want to come?' he asked. Everyone but me and the guy next to me nodded and got up.
'You coming?' they asked us. I shook my head.
'Nah I'm fine,' I said.
'Ditto,' the guy said. Then they paraded off to the bar.
'So... How was falling into that pool, eh?' he asked, smirking. I gasped, hitting him gently.
'Keep going on about that and you'll be the one falling in next!' I threatened him. He put his arms in surrender and we laughed.
'Hey, what's your name? I feel like we've known each other for like ever but I don't know your name...' he pointed out. I nodded. We'd only met on the plane today but it felt like we'd know each other for years. I'd never got on that well with guys.
'I know right? Haha, my name's Lola. You?' I asked in return.
'Nathan.'
So we spent the rest of the night chatting until it was like 11. I decided to head back to my room to get some sleep.
