This Ain't The End - Part 11

 The next day, I was woken to the sound of seagulls cawing and the sea... Aaand Nessy.

'Get up Lol-a!' she cried, jumping on my bed and lying on top of me. I groaned and sat up. Sunshine filled the room and a light breeze was coming from the balcony.

'What Nessy?' I asked her. She climbed off me and my bed and walked over to a pile of clothes. She then fished out a rectangular looking item.

'Phone! Your phone's ringing' she said, running over and giving me my phone. It was then I heard my phone's ringtone go off. I sighed and took it from her. I answered the call.

'Hello?' I said into the receiver.

'Hey! It's me, Nathan. Guy from yesterday?' a male voice said. I nodded, perking up a bit.

'Yeah?'

'Well we're going to that market today, like we said last night. Do you want to come with us?' he asked. I smiled, getting out of the bed.

'Yeah, I'll just ask my Dad. Hang on a sec,' I told him and walked into Dad's room. He was up and watching TV.

'Daad....' I called

'Whaat?' he replied, mocking the tone I used.

'Sophia and some others are off to the market today.... Can I go with them?' I asked him, not mentioning Nathan as I knew more questions would arise from that. He shrugged his shoulders.

'Ask Nessy, not me!' he said. I smiled and went back to the room. Dad usually trusted me in going to different places, and seeing as I knew this area of Lanzarote pretty well, I think he was fine with letting me go.

'Did you hear that?' I asked into the phone. He laughed a bit.

'Yeah. Is that a yes then?' he asked. I nodded, although he couldn't see.

'Yeah. When and where do you want me to meet you?' I asked him.

'Erm... Well try get down to the reception lobby in ten minutes?' he suggested.

'Yeah sure. See you then!' I said and hung up then walked into the bathroom.

I washed my face then got some clothes out of the wardrobe. I put a stripy vest top on with beige shorts and my denim waistcoat on top. Then I applied minimal make-up on; mascara, went back to the mirror and swept my hair up into a ponytail. I put my phone into my beach bag, along with checking that all the other things were there.

'Dad! I'm off!' I called once I finished double checking. Then Nessy ran over to me as sat down to put my socks and shoes on.

'Where you going Lola?' she asked. I stopped what I was doing.

'Nessy, I'm going to go out with some friends. But I'll be back by lunch time. Promise,' I told her, nervous on how she'd take it. Some days she'd be really good and be able to get through the day without me. Other days she wouldn't leave my side.

'I'll be a big girl!' she said, beaming. I laughed. Today was a good day.

'Yes Nes, you'll be a big girl. Look after Daddy. I'll be back by lunch,' I said. She smiled and hugged me. I loved her hugs. They reminded me so much of Mum... She let go and waved goodbye to me as I stood up and left.
