Pete was pondering Sylvia's statement so he didn't hear her.

"Excuse, Pete, you said you had information on Ace right?"

"Hmm." he scratched his head in confusion, "Information on? oh right." he opened his folder, "This is what I originally came here to talk about, how could I forget. Like I said it's just information, not news and I say that because well there is no change with his condition, it's just that we finally have a proper understanding of his condition after getting back the results of all test and doing all our research." He saw that Sylvia was getting a little anxious, "Don't worry to much, it's basically the same thing we originally told you. Ace had severe Traumatic Brain Injury. This type of injury is life-threatening and the victim is not likely to return to the life they once had if they happen to survive. Since TBI involves direct physical damage to the brain there are terrible consequences, in addition to the serious health risk physical damage to the brain can put someone in; cognitive function, personality and mental state in general can suffer from serious impairment. However for now, we know for sure if he survives this and wakes from his coma, there will be some form of memory loss and some possible emotional issues. What is worse is that the damage caused by TBI can often be permanent. There is usually not much that can be done to repair the damaged tissue of the brain. However, once again, in this case if he survives, which again is very low of a chance, but if he does survive and comes out of the coma. Further diagnoses will follow." He walks closer to Sylvia and placed his hand on her shoulder in a comforting manner, "But don't get your hopes up, remember, even if his condition stabilizes he still has brain damage and is in a coma, one that he may not wake up from anytime soon. So again, I'll advise you, not as his neurosurgeon, but as your friend, you're wasting your time and money, we're not even sure if he'll wake up, and even if he does, it could take years. Some people have stayed in comas for forty-two years and ended up dying in that state. Is he really worth stopping your life and wasting the money on? I mean I'd understand if he was your brother or your close family, or maybe even if he was a friend you grew up with. But he's just a guy your dating, do you want to really wait until your like sixty for him to die and then have to get into another relationship, which is impossible. Sylvia, you're a beautiful young lady who should have a significant other and get married and have family and grandchildren when you're sixty. Not spending every cent you have on a boyfriend who even if he does wake up may never remember or even be able to move. For all you know he could wake up from the coma in a vegetative state, then what would you do Sylvia?"

She pushes Pete's hand off her shoulder, "Well, that won't happen, he'll wake up soon as healthy as an ox and maybe he'll forget me, but I'm prepared for that, we fell in love once, we'll fall in love again."

"But what if you don't Sylvia, what if he never falls back in love with you, what then."

"Then I guess we'll just be the best of friends, I mean he'll at least be my greatest friend." She wakes over to Ace's side and pull his hair back to get a better view of his face. "That's the type of person he is Pete, even if he forgets me and doesn't fall in love with me, he'll always be there for me, he'd never abandon me. And that Pete, that's why I won't give up on him."

"You're the most naïve person I've ever met, you really think he'd be there for you and not abandon you. If he forgets you, you'll just be a stranger to him, a stranger who spent all her money to care for him, a stranger, that's all you'll be to him, he won't be comfortable around you, let alone be there for you. Mark my words Sylvia, and these are words of care, give up on him, no matter what happens, you'll lose in the end, you'll get yourself hurt, call it quits sooner rather than later. Else you'll end up having to sell your soul to the devil for someone who may not even remember your name."

Sylvia snapped at Pete's words, "If that's all you have to say, get out of the room. And about selling my soul to the devil for him. If it meant I get to spend more time with Ace, I'd deny every god and go down to hell with a smile on my face."
