Chapter 22: The longest seven seconds; Part 6

He was delivering his goods for Bob as usual, but today he took a shortcut through the mall, and as he was walking he bumped into the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. He was walking so fast when he bumped into her he dropped his bag, but when he saw her eyes he was dumbstruck, she had the most beautiful eyes he had ever seen in his life.

"Sorry, about that, I wasn't looking where I was going." the girl said.

"No, no, that was my fault, I was rushing, my name's Ace."

She awkwardly replied, "Hi, my name is Elaina."

At that moment Ace's mind instantly went blank, 'She is so beautiful and she has the same name as the star from Vampire Notebook.' He bent down to pick up his bag, but by the time he got back up she was gone, totally out of sight, he wanted to look for her, but he had to finish his delivery. So he went about his business.

When he got back to Bob's house, "Hey Mr. Bob?"

"Yes Ace?"

"Soooooo."

"Just spit it out kid."

"I was wondering if I could continue doing that route you gave me today?"

"Oh, why's that?"

"Well."

"I'm listening."

"Well I saw this girl, and well she disappeared before I could talk to her properly, so I was thinking if I did that route I could see her again."

"Well, I have another guy doing that route, but I guess I could change it up a bit."

"Thanks Mr. Bob." Ace was excitedly walking away.

"Hey kid before you go I just wanna tell you something."

"What is it Mr. Bob?"

"Have a seat." He pulled a chair next to his for Ace to sit, "With what you're doing Ace, falling in love will turn into a weakness."

"What do you mean? Don't you have a wife and daughter?"

"Exactly, and everyday I have to worry if someone will kidnap them or kill them to get to me, and if they do kidnap them, and they're someone who has more power than me I won't be able to get them back."

"But aren't you the boss Mr. Bob. Plus you thought me to defend myself and you had me train to pass a lie detector and withstand torture. I can defend myself."

Bob chuckled, "Well this will be my other lesson for you kid, there's always someone stronger than you, someone who's more important, at the end of the day there is always someone better than you, never underestimate anyone, always be careful, and don't piss off anyone because you feel like you could take them. The worlds a large ocean, and we're just the biggest whales in this part of the ocean, but there will be someone who's the biggest whale somewhere else, and they may be bigger than us, or they could have a fleet of big whales. All I'm trying to say is Ace, if you really ever wanna settle down, I think you should just disappear from this type of work and no matter what happens when you leave never come back."

"But."

"I'm not saying you have to do that now, but the day you feel as though you're ready to settle down, I'll help you disappear, I mean I planned for this, you always keep your face hidden and never talk right? Just hand the package and collect the money?"

"Of course Mr. Bob."

"Good, well I'll give you that route, but be careful and make sure if you go looking for this girl you're never ever followed. You don't wanna endanger her do you?"
